My Little Margie: Buried Treasure is another contrived episode
tavm7 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Margie and Vern are on a two-week vacation at a country house. After about a day Margie wants to go home because the beach is two miles away and she doesn't want to take such a long walk. Out of Margie's earshot, a friendly mailman convinces Vern to plant some gold coins in the yard and draw a treasure map to entice Margie to stay. As Margie and her father fix a stair post, Vern "discovers" a map inside post that indeed convinces his daughter to stay. She temporarily goes back to Honeywell and Todd to tell Mr. Todd about her discovery and he goes back to the country house with her to dig for the treasure. They are being watched by a couple of gangsters who had hid their own money in a chest at that yard a while back. After several hours, Mr. Todd finds the chest and presents it to Margie who he agreed to split it with. Just then, the gangsters come back to claim their find but not before Margie, Vern, and Mr. Todd play keep away for awhile. The gangsters trap the three in another room so Margie climbs up the chimney and goes through a window down a net and manages to crash the gangsters as Vern and Mr. Todd escape the other room. Some amusing scenes involving a moving wall cannot disguise the fact that this is another contrived episode from a mostly silly and unrealistic sitcom, typical of many '50s television shows. This is a rare appearance of Todd of the Honeywell and Todd office Vern works at. Only worth seeing if you find such nonsense amusing.
