Bizarre, surreal vision of torment
9 May 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Tartarus is a bizarre film, with elements of horror, science fiction and the supernatural. The director takes the viewer on a nightmarish ride through life and death into Tartarus, a vile place of fear and torment, similar to Purgatory or Hell.

Somewhat confusing at times, yet compelling, I found this to be a thought provoking and interesting movie. It is true that some of the special effects were rather "cheesy", but they worked and just added to my overall enjoyment of the picture. There were relatively few characters in the story, which strongly focused on one main character and seemed to be a glimpse into his psyche, as well as into a hellish vision of torment.

Low budget, surreal and bizarre. I like it.
