Amy Poehler had her residence in Los Angeles professionally childproofed by the real Boo Boo Busters.
Boo Boo Busters, the Professional Childproofing Company featured in this movie, is based on the real company in California. The owner of Boo Boo Busters, Kimberlee Mitchell, shipped a box of child safety devices to the production, production offices to use in the filming, including the now infamous toilet lock Amy Poehler's character claimed was "broken."
Greg Kinnear's Juice Shop was originally a tea shop, but was changed because the staff thought juice would be funnier.
Richard Gere was the first choice to play Kate's boss Barry, but he turned the role down.
At least 10 cast members would also appear in at least one episode of Parks and Recreation.
