Craven & Son
21 May 2010 | by (Ambrosia) – See all my reviews

Craven has acquired a trendy new flat, with which he hopes to attract the ladies, including sexy Swede Ingrid ( Leena Skoog ). Out driving one night, he picks up a hitch-hiker - Margaret Barber ( Angharad Rees ), who is heavily pregnant. Her husband is at sea, she is on her way to stay with relatives, but on arrival, finds they have moved. Peter has no option but to put her up in the flat. Ingrid storms out in disgust, while his friends think he is the father...

'Steptoe & Son' did a similar idea in 1970. Called 'Steptoe & Son...& Son', it featured Ann Beach as the mother-to-be. Unlike that episode though, there's no suggestion of Craven offering to marry her. It transpires that the absent father ( Derek Keller ) has been in prison.

Angharad Rees ( once married to the recently deceased Christopher Cazenove ) is best known for the B.B.C. costume drama 'Poldark'. Kenneth Waller, who plays expect father 'Mr.Penrose', later starred in 'Are You Being Served?' as 'Old Mr.Grace' and then in Carla Lane's 'Bread' as 'Grandad'.

Funniest moment - asked which ship Mr.Barber is on, Margaret says: "P & O!". Frankie replies: "Didn't know the Post Office did boats!".
