Further investigation leads Burke to a stable run by Penny and James Forsyth. The team believes the couple are part of a money laundering scheme masterminded by Raymond Carney. When Penny Forsyth is murdered suspicion falls on Panda Ramage, a reformed drug addict.
Unfortunately for Burke his worst fears are confirmed when doping drugs are found in Ramage's room. The senior policeman went to bat for the ex drug addict and the sense of betrayal is palpable. In the final scene he is left wondering if he should do a deal with his suspect or let the mastermind go free.
This is a reasonably good episode of Taggart and Alex Norton is settling well into the lead roll.
