Taggart joins A.A.
10 October 2008 | by (Port Stephens, Australia) – See all my reviews

Eddie Monroe is stabbed to death while waiting for someone he wishes to make amends to. It is obvious from the opening dialogue that the victim is a member of A.A. and is following the 12 step program.

The investigation leads Burke to Angus Ford - a retired police officer who put Monroe away for drug possession. When Ford becomes the main suspect he taunts Burke whose father died an alcoholic.

When Iain Gallen is murdered the police connect both victims to a gang that included Daniel Tullock. As the investigation progresses Burke is shocked to learn that Ford and Tullock are now close friends. He suspects the drugs that sent away Eddie Monroe for 18 years were planted. In the end it is horrible crime that seems to link all the characters together.

Unfortunately Taggart has returned to an old formula. A series of murders take place. The investigation discovers revenge is the motive. Still for anyone who loves Glasgow this episode has some lovely shots of the city.
