While working one of the wading pool scenes, director Tim Sullivan accidentally fell head-first into the pool. In spite of the numerous camera equipment and operators around, it wasn't captured on camera.
Ryan Fleming broke his left wrist a week before production and performed the role of Hucklebilly wearing a removable cast hidden under the sleeve of his shirt except for the skinny dipping scene where he removed the cast for each take.
Originally this film was to have the name "2001 Maniacs: Beverley Hellbillys", but was changed when it was decided that it would be to expensive to film in Beverley Hills, California. If they went this route, the film wouldn't be to different, except prehaps the reality stars wouldn't be traveling.
Robert Englund was meant to reprise his role as Mayor Buckman but was kept being rescheduled due to lack of budget. The filmmakers decided to make the film using the budget they had and cast Bill Moseley, all without Robert's knowledge.
