Cool Under Fire
22 August 2013 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

There are several episodes of Ironside in which one or more members of Raymond Burr's team are in a hostage situation. In this one the Chief and Don Mitchell are lured to a prison on a pretext. What actually is happening is that three convicts, Johnny Seven, Dana Elcar, and Jackie Coogan, Jr. are the participants in an armored car heist and they want to escape to spend their ill gotten loot.

If I had to give an award to the coolest man in television under pressure it would go to Robert Ironside. That man has ice water in his veins. I think it has a lot to do with him being paralyzed and being so close to death. The Chief thinks he lives on borrowed time anyway so he's the wrong man ever to take hostage. A bit of that rubs off on his team whenever they're in that situation.

The coolest man under pressure on television ever.
