Heffernan is gold

Santa Croce is a great display of skill and talent from Gavin Heffernan. I think shorts are always difficult to get right and this director has chosen the appropriate level of minimalism and action to fit his story of a lost and broken family rediscovering faith.

I would, however, like to see this up-and-coming director/writer take some big risks with his next project. As a preference to this writer, think more David Lynch and less Cameron Crowe. I suppose that makes Heffernan the next Cronenberg -- a suitable title for a new Canadian talent.

Look out for this new Director.

I truly enjoyed the film. The cinematography was beautiful. Brad Fisher was wonderful as Marcus. I could feel his pain at the loss of his wife & his hope in making Santa Croce a better place through this "miracle". His love for his children, and the underlying conflict with his oldest daughter were evident.

It made me remember how I felt when finding out there really was no Santa Clause and the clinging to hope that Alison felt as she tried to prove that there was.

All the characters gave heart-felt performances! It was an absolute pleasure to watch!
