As the sun sets on Collinwood, David (David Henesy) leads Vicki (Alexandra Moltke) through a closed off section of Collinwood, promising her he is going to return the fountain pen which could implicate Roger in Malloy's death. Recall, Roger secretly buried the pen, leaving Vicki to believe David was the thief. He is planning to lock Vicki in the abandoned West Wing, as punishment. Note David shows humanity by preparing food, a place to sleep, and leaving her some matches...

This is the first time a character is trapped in a locked room. Vicki knows David well enough not to check the door before assuming she's locked up. A storm rages. Meanwhile, Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) has returned from her walk and wants to make up with Joe. Liz (Joan Bennett) supports Carolyn and wonders where David and Vicki are. Believing she is still in love with him, Carolyn invites Joe (Joel Crothers) over to apologize, but he intends on keeping his dinner appointment with Maggie...
