At the Blue Whale, Sam (David Ford) is drinking when Joe (Joel Crothers) arrives. The Collins cannery is closed due to Malloy's death. Sam tells Joe, "Caroline is your lady love," and the arriving Sheriff Patterson (Dana Elcar) suggests Joe take Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) for a drive. At Collinwood, David is studying maps to determine where Malloy fell into the water. Joe figures the police are also looking at tide charts and ocean currents. David says, "I'm trying to solve a murder." He wonders if Malloy may join the other ghosts at Collinwood. Looking almost as dirty as when Liz caught him fooling around with the bleeder valve in his father's car, David thinks he's found the "exact spot" where Malloy died. Patterson interrogates Sam...
