What a show. What an episode
24 December 2016 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

'Dear John' the UK version only ran for 14 episodes due to the sad death of its star, Ralph Bates, but this Christmas episode shows exactly why the show was so good.

We learn more about the plight of poor Eric/Kirk, and the loneliness of John, as he faces Christmas alone.

It's not the well-rounded ending fans would like but then again it wasn't intended to be. Everyone hoped there would be a third series.

Although it's not the show that people associate John Sullivan with, this was another feather in his cap, because in every episode he managed to combine pathos effortlessly.
