"Satan's Cannibal Holocaust" - what an absolute waste of time. I understand this stinker is writer/director Jim Wayer's debut feature, but I really think he and everyone involved should wipe it off their CVs, and try to pretend the whole thing never happened. Really, you guys should be more proud of your bowel movements than of your association with this sorry mess of a movie.

The "story" - if something so flimsy can really be called that - involves a journalist who happens to also be the Mayor's daughter investigating the disappearance of homeless people. She finds out that the perpetrators are actually devil worshippers - and that's pretty much it really.

Zero excitement, zero talent, zero effects, zero plot, zero pretty much everything. It takes itself way too seriously, tries to generate shocks in the most laughable ways possible, and as for the baritone chief-satanist's never-ending voice-over - thoroughly amateurish, at times (unintentionally) risible, and totally misjudged. It reminded me of a sixteen-year-old pontificating about having dark thoughts, and being different from everyone else, and foolishly trying to be "deep."

Pacing, editing, scripting, and camera-work are miserable. We have a long embarrassing sequence where the heroine and her father eat spaghetti bolognese - which is quite breathtakingly bad. And I never thought that gore and torture scenes could be so dull.

The film tries hard to be sinister - but in seriously misguided ways. This is truly abject movie-making from the veriest dregs of the cinematic barrel. It's not even watchable in a "so bad it's good" way.

Recommended only to... - hmm - well, no-one really. Wretched on every single possible level.
