Riley Keough Will Undergo The Girlfriend Experience For Steven Soderbergh’s Anthology Series

23 September 2014 11:57 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Earlier this year it was reported that Steven Soderbergh’s lo-fi 2009 flick, The Girlfriend Experience, had been picked up by Starz. Spinning on the current trend of re-imagining movies into longer narratives for serials, the TV network placed an order for a 13-episode series. Now the project has found its lead in Riley Keough.

According to reports, the show will follow a similar premise to the movie:

“… which explores the relationships of the most exclusive courtesans who provide their clients with far more than just sex. These purveyors – or GFEs (Girlfriend Experience) – share intimacies more common to romantic partners or husbands and wives, becoming quasi-lovers and confidants who are richly paid for their time.”

Slated to be an anthology series, the show’s direction may take a different approach than Soderbergh’s original feature. For this version, he’ll sit out on directorial duties, instead taking an executive producer role alongside Philip Fleishman. »

The Simpsons took to the stage of the Hollywood Bowl last night to kick off a three-day series of tributes and performances in anticipation of its 26th season. Conan O'Brien got onstage to perform a classic scene from a classic episode, the monorail song (voiced by the late great Phil Hartman) from "Marge v. the Monorail." Conan's an appropriate choice considering he wrote the episode. Also in attendance was Weird Al, who performed a parody of "Jack and Diane" as "Homer and Marge." Kylie Minogue Joins Dwayne Johnson in Quake Movie ‘San Andreas’

11 June 2014 3:38 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue has joined New Line’s earthquake thriller “San Andreas” opposite Dwayne Johnson.

Archie Panjabi, Art Parkinson, Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario also star in the film, which recaps a 9.0 quake hitting California. Minogue’s role is being kept under wraps.

Even though the movie is set in California, nearly all of it is being shot in Australia. Johnson portrays a copter pilot who rescues his daughter in San Francisco, where less than a week of shooting is taking place — mostly “plate” shots to establish location.

Brad Peyton is directing from a script by “The Conjuring” scribes Carey and Chad Hayes, with a previous draft written by Carlton Cuse. Beau Flynn is producing through his FlynnPictureCo. along with Village Roadshow.

Minogue’s acting credits include “Moulin Rouge,” “Holy Motors” and “Jack and Diane.” She’s repped by CAA.

Brad Peyton's San Andreas 3D has been shooting for awhile now, with Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino starring in this contemporary disaster movie about a couple traveling from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their child. Though the film takes place on the coast, San Andreas 3D has been shooting in Australia, which means its time to poach some local talent. And is there any greater local talent than Ms. Kylie Minogue? The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Kylie Minogue will be a part of San Andreas 3D in an unspecified role. Minogue, an occasional actor who last appeared in the indie Jack And Diane, will show up in a climactic scene to beat back the earthquake with her stunning dance moves and golden pipes, performing a sea of retro disco dance hits so baller that Mother Nature must bow to her fury.
