Nesbitt's prize winner

Warning: Spoilers
Hughes is having an affair with the sexy 'Carla' ( Marina Sirtis, a year or so away from becoming 'Counselor Deanna Troi' in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' ). She badly wants to win the star prize - a car - in Megla's top-rated game show 'The Big One'. So Hughes tells Nesbitt to put her on the air and fix it for her to win. Nesbitt calls on her and is instantly attracted to her ( and who wouldn't be? ). They began an affair...

This was made years before the infamous 'coughing Major' episode of Chris Tarrant's 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'. Roy Galton must have sensed the show was not working because this episode sees an abrupt change of style, switching from satire to farce. It is never stated but it appears that Carla is on the game, given her fondness for dressing up as schoolgirls and nurses whenever there are men around. Eventually, she goes on the show and gets the car, only to then ditch both Hughes and Nesbitt. The change of style works well and this easily is the best episode of the series so far.

Funniest moment - Nesbitt hiding in Carla's wardrobe because Hughes has shown up. Hughes and Carla act out a sexual fantasy and Nesbitt hands Carla various objects including a cane and a ball of string. If this scene is reminiscent of 'Casavova 73' ( which Galton co-wrote ) then that's because it recycles an idea from that series.
