The third installment in the 'Heaven, Hell & Purgatory' trilogy that Krzysztof Kieslowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz wrote before Kieslowski's death. The first, Heaven (2002/I) was directed by Tom Tykwer and the second, L'enfer (2005) was directed by Danis Tanovic.

DVD release

Does anyone have any info about a possible English DVD release of this film? As far as I know it got a theatrical release in Polish theatres in February 2008, and it seems to have had a very limited theatrical release with English subtitles in the UK in April 2008.

According to the BBFC website, the UK distributor was Dogwoof pictures - an independent distributor that handled the UK release of Man Push Cart, Mouth to Mouth, Bunny Chow and Non Ti Muovere, amongst others. I've emailed the company to see if they have any information about a possible UK DVD release but haven't received any response back as yet.

It seems to have been released in Poland, and from what I can make out (speaking no Polish), the Polish DVD has English subtitles. The Polish distributor is TIM, which seems to be a large company, handling titles such as Hellboy and Wanted, but I haven't been able to get much more information about them. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they may be a subsidiary of Universal in Poland.

I'm considering just importing the Polish DVD. Seems to be available online for 40zl, which is about £8: http://www.idvd.pl/sklepy/filmy/oferta/50145/Nadzieja/

Having seen the first two films in the trilogy (and Heaven being one of my all-time favourites) I'm really keen to see this film. I'm gutted I missed it's theatrical run. It was only recently I found out that it had even finished production.

UPDATE - I got an email back from Dogwoof who confirmed that they do have the UK rights for the film, and are hoping to have it out on DVD before the end of 2009, but there's no set date yet.
