The '60s are the new '50s.
Some backwards rural town in 1967 and two aliens try to find a way home. A local hippie and his friend help out against the wishes of the village publican.
Without a doubt the WORST Irish movie I've seen this decade (and that includes Headrush and Spin The Bottle). It's back to the '60s again (similar to Middletown) and two attractive human beings are actually from outer space. Says it all when the two most interesting looking characters in the movie are the outsiders. The usual characters from this type of picture are present: the priest, the Garda, the publican, the busybody women, and the angry local. Then there's the premise of aliens wanting to go home but their craft is broken - now there's an original idea! Add in a feeling that this movie was made by some kind of children's film-making scheme and you get an embarrassing list of clichés and mundane scenes. Yet another "triumph" from the Irish Film Bored. Even the title is rubbish.
Summer of the Flying Saucer is a joke of a movie.
