FremantleMedia International has acquired “Boy Machine,” the latest Swedish comedy series produced by Flx, the banner behind the popular skein “Welcome to Sweden” and B.O. hit movie “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared.”

Created by Per Gavatin, the showrunner of “Torpederna” and “Kontoret,” the half-hour comedy skein turns on a quartet of forty-something friends – a high-school teacher, a lawyer, a shepherd and an unemployed slacker — who used to form a famed boys band in the 90’s and decide to reunite 18 years after their heyday. While the guys seek to reconquer the charts and bring some thrills back into their lives as they hit midlife crisis, they come to realize that the road back to the top is not so easy — until they finally get into the Eurovision Song Contest.

FremantleMedia will kick off sales at Mipcom, ahead of the series’ bow on Sweden’s leading commercial network TV4 on Oct. »
