Storyline
The year is 1970, six years after Operation Snake Eater. Snake, who doesn't use his real codename Big Boss as he doesn't yet feel that he deserves the title, is captured by his own unit, FOX, which has broken its allegiance with the CIA and captured a secret base in South America. In jail, he meets Roy Campbell, the sole survivor of a Green Berets team sent to investigate. The two escape and find out that both Snake and his former CO, Major Zero, are suspected of treason. The only way to clear their names is for Snake to stop the revolt and apprehend its leader, Gene. Written by

Trivia
This is notably the only canonical Metal Gear game that one of the playable Snake characters doesn't smoke. Snake does, however, briefly mention ordering a cigar during a certain recruiting side quest.

There's a lot of cutting edge games on various platforms but very few of them have the depth and experience that MGS series provides. I think the dynamics and how they affect the overall storyline is simply incredible. The story keeps you on the edge and you never know what's gonna happen next. Fans of the series would find a lot to appreciate about this entry onto the hand-held market and I'm sure Kojima and co would unleash another of Snake's tales on Sony's marvelous hand-held. There are many good games out there on the market but I would suggest picking this one up at the sweet price of $19.95. You can't go wrong because MGS: Portable Ops is one of the best games out there with oodles of goodies for hardcore fans and newcomers. Great story, characters, and action on one small disc; don't pass it up. And if you're hip with a lot of cash layin' around getting PS3 with MGS: Guns of the Patriots is already a stellar bonus!!!
