Get ready to meet the first foe to go up against Kara in CBS’ Supergirl. The Mentalist‘s Owain Yeoman, who played Wayne Rigsby for years on the CBS series, will be taking on the role of the DC Comics character Vartox in Supergirl‘s pilot. In the comics, Vartox is originally an alien super-hero from the planet Valeron, who has similar powers to Superman and is a friend and ally to the Man of Steel. In addition to his Superman-like powers, Vartox can also convert himself into energy and control things with his mind. However, per TVLine, Supergirl‘s take on Vartox will be bit different. In the show’s pilot, Vartox is an “alien convict who has been hiding on Earth for 12 years. After Supergirl’s emergence as a public hero, he seeks her out to ascertain her identity and do battle with her.” Supergirl stars Glee‘s Melissa Benoist as Kara, »

Ranking the Films of James Wan

Edward Gardiner ranks the films of James Wan

James Wan: love him or hate him, he knows how to make an audience tick.

After navigating his way to the rare status of financially lucrative horror director, Wan landed the gig of helming the utterly mad-looking Fast & Furious 7, with series regular Justin Lin moving onto other things.  As it gears up for an imminent release, this seems like a good opportunity to rank Aussie director’s films in order of quality so far. Wasting no time…

6. Death Sentence, 2007

A little-seen revenge picture starring Kevin Bacon as a family man who goes all one man army on a group of thugs who murdered his son, Death Sentence is an interesting but flawed piece.  An enjoyably nasty performance from Garrett Hedlund and a terrific single-take foot chase stand out, and the frolicsome approach to the direction gives the impression Wan was »

Will Joe Manganiello Upstage The Channing Tatum in ‘Magic Mike Xxl’?

20 March 2015 10:10 AM, PDT | VH1.com | See recent VH1.com news »

Channing Tatum tells Entertainment Tonight that his Magic Mike Xxl co-star Joe Manganiello‘s dance moves are”terrifyingly unreal” in the upcoming film. Whoa there, partner. What are you getting at?

Once again, the original stripper showers Joe with praise. “He’s going to blow people’s minds in this movie,” Ct explains.

But wait, will all of his practice cause him to upstage Tatum? Is that even possible? We already know the True Blood star will be super naked in the sequel, but he told Et that his Latina lover Sofia Vergara inspired him to sex up his moves. “The Colombian people, they live life to the fullest,” he said. Sooo, she has inspired your dance moves? “The answer is yes.”

Don’t get me wrong — I’m tickled at the thought of this new and improved Joe, but I don’t know how I feel about all of this hype. »

Is Scandal back to its classic self?

Whereas the previous episode took a significant step in that direction, this week’s hour seemed to complete the long-awaited round-trip, putting Olivia in full, nearly unfettered fixer mode. We had a provocative Case of the Week (an X-rated tell-all by “Kinky Sue,” played by GirlsLena Dunham), and Quinn and Huck (mostly) acting like old-school, not-overly-angsty Gladiators.

Series premiere review: 'iZombie' - 'Pilot'

17 March 2015 7:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Welcome to "iZombie," boys and girls. Earlier today, I published interviews with producers Diane Ruggiero-Wright and Rob Thomas, and I have a review of the series premiere coming up just as soon as I choose not to have a drawer full of fake eyeballs... "It's probably wrong that every time I see a dead body, I think, 'What the hell am I doing with my life?'" -Liv TV adaptations — whether from books, movies, comic books or even other TV shows — are a tricky thing. Ideally, you want to capture what was compelling in the source material without doing a straight-up copy, but if you make too many changes, you risk annoying the pre-existing fanbase who helped your adaptation become a reality in the first place. Unlike a lot of the recent comic book adaptations, "iZombie" plays very loose with the source material. Thomas and Ruggiero-Wright, not wanting to do a "True Blood" rehash, »
