Although shown as the 23rd episode late in season one, this apparently was the first-filmed "pilot" episode. Notice how much younger "Harold" appears and how different the kitchen and living room sets are from the other episodes.
The original pilot was filmed with Edward Andrews as "George Baxter." When the series was sold, the part was recast with Don Defore in the role and the scenes in which "Mr. B" appears were re-shot. The original pilot with Edward Andrews is available on You Tube.
The Pilot episode " Dorothy's Birthday" was reworked with the same title for the 23rd episode in the first season.. The original pilot starred Edward Andrews as George Baxter and also had Hal Smith as Barney the mailman who was not in the reworked episode. Music for the Pilot was not the Hazel theme and was done by Fred Steiner.
The Scene with the firemen at the fire plug when Hazel Arrives shows a metal post that never existed on the "Columbia Ranch in at least four known shows up until then - fourth being the complete "Hazel" (1961) series.
The Mysterious Metal Lamp Post with the Globe top never existed during "Father Knows Best" (1954,) nor "The Donna Reed Show" (1958,) nor "Dennis the Menace" (1959) or any other "Hazel" (1961) episodes shot on the "Columbia Ranch."
This one episode is when you will find a post in that exact spot. Moreover, The lamp post pop up when the fire engines race to the 'fire' viewers never really see.

The location where Hazel parks the Milk Truck is right in front of the house used by The "Kravitz Family" in "Bewitched" (1964.) The picket fence house behind the Milk Truck was "Mr Wilson's House" from "Dennis The Menace" (1959) - or "Major Nelson's House" from "I Dream of Jeannie" (1965)
Interesting, if "Hazel" drove further on "Blondie" Street where it curves on "Columbia Ranch," she would have been right in front of The "Baxters House.
