Four years ago Gibbs and Fornell caught a Navy petty officer, Paulson, whom a court-martial convicted of murder and bank robbery, and who now escapes, approaches Fornell and his pre-school daughter, insists that he's innocent, and demands a reopening of his case and an exoneration of himself; Fornell approaches Gibbs, Gibbs approaches Jen, and Gibbs returns temporarily. The old team investigates; they find an old sailor, but they lose a car, and Tony loses a laptop computer with his files on Paulson. The team considers many angles, and Gibbs and Fornell conclude that they made a mistake. Another man dies, then Gibbs and Abby figure out the case, and the gang collar the real bad guy. Written by
