The ABC’s Of Death Reveals The Green Band Trailer!

4 December 2012 4:53 PM, PST | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

26 directors – 26 ways to die! Well, ok, maybe you’re not going to see all ways in this completely new green band trailer for the upcoming horror movie The ABCs Of Death, but at least we have something great to share with you – more spooky scenes from the whole thing! If you ask me – this video looks awesome, but that’s not exactly a surprise. After all, we knew this project was going to be the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived, right?

As you already know, the movie features segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. With each director assigned a letter of the alphabet, they were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving a tale of mortality.

In other words – it’s an alphabetical arsenal of destruction orchestrated by some of the most exciting names in global horror. »

Alphabetic Insanity In ABCs Of Death Red Band Trailer!

14 November 2012 6:57 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

The Red Band trailer has dropped for The ABCs Of Death, Drafthouse Films & Magnet Releasing’s alphabetic anthology that tasked 26 directors to depict various forms of death through 26 assigned letters. From House of the Devil‘s Ti West and Hobo with a Shotgun‘s Jason Eisner, to Tokyo Gore Police‘s Yoshihiro Nishimura, and even Metalocalypse‘s Jon Schnepp!

The entire concept is enormously ambitious, and the diverse group of filmmakers is more than enough to warrant my attention. Judging from the positive buzz out of Fantastic Fest and Tiff only helped pique my interest, but this Red Band trailer flat out makes this one of my most anticipated films of 2013. See the alphabetic insanity of The ABCs Of Death for yourself below, and look for the feature to hit VOD January 31st & limited theaters March 8th!

More Horror Report: Horrorfind Weekend 14

By Colleen Wanglund, MoreHorror.com

Horrorfind Weekend 14

Once again Labor Day weekend rolled around and it was time for another trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for the Horrorfind Weekend Convention.

The convention combines all things horror—books, movies, collectibles, etc—and that’s what I really enjoy about it. Last year I had a blast, getting to meet authors I knew online in person and hang out with friends who live in other parts of the country but gather in Gettysburg once a year.

This year’s movie guests included Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange {1971}, Halloween {2007}, and Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse), Ray Wise (Robocop {1987} and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks), Doug Bradley (the Hellraiser series), Mary Woronov (The House Of The Devil {2009}, Eating Raoul {1982}, Death Race 2000 {1975}) and Patty Mullen (Frankenhooker {1990}).

There were quite a few authors representing the small horror press Samhain Publishing, including John Everson, Brian Moreland, David Bernstein, »

Death Meets Dethklok as Adult Swim Runs a 'Darksiders'/'Metalocalypse' Promo Friday

15 August 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

The Cartoon Network late night programming block will be running a two-minute promo Friday night bringing together the world's biggest metal band with the embodiment of all mortality.

Nothing at all weird about that.

More details and images after the jump.

The promo will run during Friday night's Metalocalypse marathon, which is running from 11:00 Pm to 1:00 Am on Adult Swim, so you can probably expect it to repeat a few times if you miss it. The spot is being animated by Titmouse Inc., the studio responsible for Metalocalypse, which is currently in its fourth, world-burning season (seriously, the current storyline sees the band trying to fend off the end of the world).

The series was created by writer, voice actor, and musician Brendon Small who also fronts the band when it performs live (I had a chance to see them perform during San Diego Comic-Con--it was on an »

Jimmy Fallon Not Hosting The Oscars, So Who Should?

9 August 2012 5:30 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Well that was a short-lived dream. Only days after it was first announced that Jimmy Fallon had been approached to host the Academy Awards next year, he has come out and said that it's not going to happen.

"No, I’m not going to do the Oscars," he told Matt Lauer on "Today." "It’s an honor to be asked by the Academy, but it’s not my year."

Blunt and to the point, just how we like our Jimmy Fallon. But that raises the bigger question: whose year is it? There's still a chance that Lorne Michaels would be willing to produce the show, which narrows down our possibilities. Here are the suggestions we came up with for host of the 85th annual Academy Awards.

Tina Fey

Can't have Fallon but still looking for someone Michaels has a good relationship with? Well, why not Tina Fey? Sure, she's still a competitor of ABC ("30 Rock, »

Is Adult Swim Stuck in a Rut of Nostalgia Bait?

25 May 2012 11:10 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Describing the current slate of programming on Adult Swim, which takes over Cartoon Network every evening from 9pm to 6am, is like trying to explain why crude sex and drug jokes get old after a while. There’s nothing wrong with “Venture Brothers,” Odd Future’s “Loiter Squad” or Brendon Small’s “Metalocalypse," other than their numbing similarity to each other and so many shows that have come before. It's been a mainstay in many college dorm rooms on Sunday nights, but Adult Swim is still relying on the same three notes, sounded in between endless “King of the Hill” reruns, to fill up seven days of late night programming. Is Adult Swim stuck in a backward-looking loop at what used to work for the network in its prime? Since the next big plan is to resurrect its old programming block Toonami, the answer is yes. Metalocalypse Director Jon Schnepp and Zenescope's Benjamin Jackendoff Talk Animating Grimm Fairy Tales

26 April 2012 11:31 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

There are a number of popular amped up fairy tale projects out there right now. One need look no further than NBC's "Grimm" or ABC's "Once Upon a Time." However, Zenescope Entertainment's comic series Grimm Fairy Tales is about to take things to a whole new level.

"Metalocalypse" director Jon Schnepp is teaming with Titmouse Animation Studio, Benjamin Jackendoff and Zenescope to create an animated project based on the long running Grimm Fairy Tales comic book series. "Ben and I had done a couple of horror shorts over the last two years," Schnepp said. "He started working for a company called Zenescope and was like, 'Yo, dude, you've gotta check out this company. I had been doing 'Metalocalypse' for eight years and wanted to do something on my own that's like a Heavy Metal movie, so I started writing this horror anthology movie. Ben was like, 'You »

Game of Thrones Star to Voice Lead Character in Zenoscope’s Animated Grimm Fairy Tales

12 April 2012 3:00 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Lena Headey, who currently plays Game of Thrones‘ Cersei Lannister, mother to the very horrible young king Joffrey Baratheon, will be lending her dulcet tones to the character of Sela in Zenoscope Entertainment‘s online animated series based on its popular comic Grimm Fairy Tales. (Please note, if you aren’t familiar with the comic series, that these are nothing like charming childrens’ stories; it’s more adult fare, as evidenced by the Snow White cover below.)

This series isn’t taking the usual path, however. It’s going for funding By The People, meaning through Kickstarter. Here are some of the details, from the site:

We, at Zenescope Entertainment, find it hard to believe that Grimm Fairy Tales is approaching its 75th issue. When we started publishing the comic book back in 2005, we just hoped it would make it to issue six so we could collect it into a graphic novel. »

'Game Of Thrones' Actress To Lead 'Grimm Fairy Tales'

11 April 2012 8:48 AM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

If you're a fan of Zenescope Entertainment's comic series "Grimm Fairy Tales," you're going to love this. The company has partnered with Titmouse animation studio and director Jon Schnepp (the guy behind "Metalocalypse" and "The Venture Bros.") to launch a Kickstarter campaign thats end goal is an animated series based off the graphic novel, and yesterday they announced that "Game of Thrones's" Lena Headey is going to be voicing leading lady Sela Mathers.

Sela Mathers is a professor of literature who can affect peoples' lives by teaching them lessons in morality through fairy tales. But people often ignore her advice and ruin their lives anyways, so she starts using her ability to dole out justice instead. Headey will join the previously announced Briana Evigan in the cast.

"We couldn't be who we are without fairy tales," Headey said in the YouTube announcement of the casting. "They're very important."
