Character error

In the first The Pink Panther, Jean Reno's character had a British accent. In this film, he has a very thick French accent. Likewise, Dreyfus' accent (after being re-cast from Kevin Kline to John Cleese) has a strong, English brogue.

Jacques Clouseau is supposed to be a Police Inspector, yet he wears a uniform that was worn by the Gendarmerie (national police) until the early 1990s. Moreover, the two chevrons on his sleeves would make him a simple gendarme, a non-commissioned officer whose rank is far below Inspector.
