Woody Allen has found his latest infusion of life-giving young people blood to perk up his cinematic forays, with Variety reporting that Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, and Timothée Chalamet have all signed on for the director’s next film with Amazon. Everything about the film—the follow-up to Café Society and the upcoming Wonder Wheel—is being kept under wraps, including the name, but we can assume that either or both of Fanning or Gomez will inevitably find themselves drawn to some sort of older male figure, presumably with an interest in the clarinet.
Gomez, a former Disney star, has spent the last few years splitting the difference between kiddie films and more outrageous fare, dipping in between stuff like the Hotel Transylvania franchise and Spring Breakers or Neighbors 2. Fanning, meanwhile, just finished turns for Sofia Coppola and Nicolas Winding Refn, in The Beguiled and The Neon Demon »

There’s also a cool new video for The Dark Tower that shows how the Stephen King universe all interconnects, including the seemingly distinct world of the Dark Tower series. See if you can spot all the movie references!
There are other worlds than these. But they all begin and end at The Dark Tower. #DarkTowerMovie #ConnectedKINGdom https://t.co/Jz8Bz8XfNJ pic.twitter.com/KOJP508mCw

Sony Pictures Imageworks, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is unique in Hollywood as the only studio-run visual effects and animation division. Formed in 1992 (now headquartered in Vancouver), Imageworks alternates between live-action/CG hybrids and animation with its younger sister, Sony Pictures Animation, which was founded in 2002.
Imageworks has won two Oscars (“Spider-Man 2” VFX and “The ChubbChubbs!” animated short) along with an Academy Sci-Tech award this year for an advanced shading program. But Imageworks first cut its teeth on “Speed,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “Jumanji,” “Starship Troopers,” and “Contact” before tackling “Stuart Little” in 1999, the first-cg-animated character to star in a live-action feature.
Since then, Imageworks spear-headed performance capture-based virtual production with director Robert Zemeckis (“Polar Express,” “Monster House”), and has continued to work on franchises including “Spider-Man” (“Homecoming” opens this week), “The Smurfs,” and “Hotel Transylvania.”
Here’s our ranking of the 10 best VFX moments from Imageworks:

“Daddy, are monsters real?” a little girl wants to know in “Zombillenium,” a gloriously stylized, bizarrely didactic animated feature in which vampires, witches, zombies, etc. really do exist, but manage to go undetected by working at a horror-themed amusement park. Adapted from a hit graphic novel by French cartoonist Arthur de Pins and co-director Alexis Ducord, “Zombillenium” boasts a rock-solid concept and some of the most appealing character design in recent memory, but doesn’t quite know where to go with it. What might have been a worldwide, “Scooby-Doo”-esque phenom with young audiences winds up feeling a little too French.
How so? For some reason, rather than taking the time to lovingly establish the world (à la Sony’s hit “Hotel Transylvania”) or to riff on monster-human relations (like Pixar’s “Monsters Inc.”), de Pins and Ducord decide to get political, focusing the plot on the class struggles between the different castes of monsters. »

It may not be Halloween yet, but Future Zahir still had a frightening good time this weekend!
The son of Ciara and her ex, rapper Future, celebrated turning 3 with a monster mash — er, bash — modeled after the animated movie Hotel Transylvania 2, along with face painting (the birthday boy’s first ever!), hula hoops, a bounce house and more.
For the occasion, Future was decked out in a black-and-white outfit that seemed a clear nod to a skeleton, complete with matching makeup that showed off his face “stitches.”
