- Teyla witnesses what appear to be an Ancient apparitions, which soon other people start to see.
- Teyla is shocked when she sees the ghostly image of a woman in the corridors of Atlantis. The woman is an Ancient in appearance but, initially at least, no one else can see her. Others begin to have their own visions however. Dr. McKay is enjoying himself watching a whale-like creature that is swimming just off the city. He's certain that it's the same creature who guided Sheppard to save him when he was trapped on the ocean floor. He nicknames the creature Sam, after his good friend Samantha Carter. When hundreds of the sea creatures are found to be heading for Atlantis, clearly something is wrong. McKay's search of the alien database reveals that Atlantis is under threat of destruction.—garykmcd
- Sheppard and Zelenka note a brief navigation interruption at sea while regaining Atlantis after a holiday with McKay, who inspires Sheppard to take him by a glider to meet the whale-shaped fish 'Sam' he likes watching swimming around which seems to great like a dolphin, while the mother swims much further. Their dive nearly goes wrong, as they get intense headache and nose bleeds, just like Teyla and soon others, who all 'see' eerie Ancient phantoms, leaving Becket and the psychotherapist clueless. Hundreds of 'whales' swim to and around Atlantis, and McKay finds answers in an Ancient biological lab, concluding the creatures cause the hallucinations as warnings, in a mind language originated from an aborted Ancient training program. The upcoming disaster threatens the entire planet: a sun flare which toasts everything not under a shield, but with only one ZPM they can't make it large enough for more then the city's direct vicinity. Sheppard convinces colonel Caldwell and Weir to attempt a Hail Mary alternative which Rodney deems too dangerous but executes: installing the shield aboard the Daedalus and flying dangerously close to the sun, a race against the flare eruption.—KGF Vissers
