Fifty Shades of Grey

Billy Magnussen ("The East," "Into the Woods") reportedly tested on Friday for the role of Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film adaptation at Universal.

Magnussen is the latest name to join the list of contenders. Jamie Dornan ("The Fall") also reportedly tested on Friday, while François Arnaud ("The Borgias") and Scott Eastwood ("Texas Chainsaw 3D") are still in contention. [Source: Just Jared]

Emmy nominated actor Vincent D'Onofrio (Men In Black, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Rodrigo Santoro (300, Love Actually) are in final negotiations to star alongside Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages), Golden Globe nominated actor Colm Meaney (Get Him to the Greek, The Damned United) and Seu Jorge (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, City Of God) who have joined the cast of Pele, the inspirational drama about the legendary Brazilian soccer player, written and to be directed by Michael Zimbalist and Jeff Zimbalist, and produced by Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer, Seine Pictures' Ivan Orlic, and Kim Roth, and Colin Wilson.

Principal photography started on September 30 on location in Brazil. Pele will be executive produced by Pel&#233, Paul Kemsley and Exclusive Media.

Seine Pictures is fully financing the film and licensed Pele's life rights from Sports Licensing International B.V.

A monster press release has confirmed the cast of football (or rather soccer for our American readers) legend PELÉ’s forthcoming biopic being produced by Brian Grazer and the former player himself. The film, charting the early rise of the brilliant Brazilian playmaker, is being directed by Jeff and Michael Zimbalist with newcomers Leonardo Lima Carvalho playing the World Cup winner at 10 and Kevin de Paula from age 13-17. Conde Nast Division Taps Vanity Fair, GQ Articles For Films On Mobsters And Horse Whisperers

Exclusive: Conde Nast Entertainment Group, which launched under Dawn Ostroff to mine feature and TV properties from the archives of the publisher’s magazine stable, has unearthed two separate projects. Run by former Imagine and Fox Searchlight exec Jeremy Steckler, the feature division has set Fracture scribe Daniel Pyne to script The Camorra Never Sleeps, a drama about the notorious Naples-based criminal underworld that is based on the 2012 Vanity Fair article written by William Langewiesche. Conde Nast Entertainment Group has separately hired Reservation Road scribe John Burnham Schwartz to script a film based on The Horse Whisperer, a 2002 GQ article written by Robert Draper. The movie will certainly need a new title, but the article is based on the long-shot journey of Wesley Keith Ritchie, who went from a Kentucky prison inmate to being a horse rehabilitation specialist who found salvation through the broken down progeny of Triple Crown winner Affirmed. »

Sundance: Content Acquires Foreign On ‘Concussion’, Will Sell At Berlin

These Sundance films keep raking it in. Content has acquired foreign rights to Concussion, a drama about a fortysomething wealthy, married, lesbian housewife who gets beaned by a baseball and strangely reflects on a life that she realizes is wanting and leads her to lead a secret life on the side. As Deadline revealed late Monday evening, Radius-twc spent a 7-figure sum for North American rights, for a multi-platform release in a deal brokered by Paradigm.
