Trivia

Mr. White is only the second Bond Villain to be played by the same actor (Jesper Christensen) in two movies. The first one was Jaws (Richard Kiel) from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979). Ernest Stavro Blofield was also played by the same actor in From Russia with Love (1963) and Thunderball (1965), although we never see his face in either. Anthony Dawson had the privilege of being the only person to portray Blofield twice (he also appeared in Dr. No (1962) as the villainous R. J. Dent). See more »

Goofs

While in Austria you see two license plates with 4 letters before the state emblem. In reality, all Austrian license plates have a maximum of 2 Letters before the state emblem. The emblem shown was the correct one for the state that Bregenz is in, but that letter combination wouldn't be possible. See more »

Quotes

Dominic Greene: How much do you know about Bond, Camille? Because he's rather a tragic case. As MI6 says, he's difficult to control. Nice way of saying that everything he touches seems to wither and die.

A good film ruined by appalling direction
1 November 2008 | by (Coventry, England) – See all my reviews

This film could have been so good, but Marc Forster's clichéd and ham-fisted direction completely ruined it for me. To be fair, his handling of the quieter moments between the action was adequate, but he clearly has no grasp of how direct action sequences, which are clearly central to any good Bond. I'm afraid the 'shake the camera and cut at least once a second' school of action direction doesn't really cut it.

It's tragic really, as the setup and the stunts for the sequences looked pretty promising, but you had to look pretty hard to tell once Mr. Forster's hopeless direction kicked in. Such a waste.

I think I'll hold out for the special edition DVD - you know - the non-directors cut!
