Films based on a true story tend to hit a little harder.
Watching a story unfold and knowing that it's not a work of fiction, but the real life experience of an actual human being, makes everything that occurs that much more impactful. It's incredibly common for films to be based on true life for that reason; it is an instant emotional investment beyond what most fiction can provide. It doesn't happen incredibly often, but sometimes we get the treat of not just watching a work of art, but someone's personal life story being displayed in their own words.

For those who aren’t completely familiar with the television calendar, we are now entering the culling. As the networks get ready for their Upfronts, it becomes time to bring the hammer down on the shows that won’t be returning, which means it is obviously also time to announce renewals.
In the midst of a ton of shows getting killed off over the last few days, Starz has renewed American Gods after the show has barely begun airing, which isn’t that unusual these days, but is surely a great relief to a lot of fans. In the release, Starz announced that the show has managed more than 5 million multiplatform viewers, and that number is growing. That’s an impressive number for a truly bonkers show on a cable network.

From the Press Release: "“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to »

While the upcoming R-rated comedy Snatched will probably get more attention for its two stars, Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn--the latter making her first big screen appearance in almost 15 years--the man behind the camera is director Jonathan Levine, who continues to diversify his filmography with this female-driven comedy.
Levine first got attention for his early indie The Wackness, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008, and he followed that by adapting the young adult zombie romance Warm Bodies, then making the cancer comedy 50/50 and the Christmas comedy The Night Before, the latter two with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
In Snatched, Amy Schumer plays Emily Middleton, who has plans to go to South America on a romantic trip with her boyfriend, but when he breaks up with her she asks her mother Linda (Hawn) to make the trip with her. Once there, the two are constantly fighting, but »
