well done CBBC
20 July 2006 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I guess I'm biased because I'm related to one of the extras but when she told me she was going to be in a show about 7/7 I winced in fear that she'd be starring in utter rubbish. But I was wrong.

The story lines focus primarily on the reaction to the horrible events in London on the 7th July 2005 (when the entire transport system shut down due to bombs) from children's' perspective and brought new light and better understanding of the whole terrible situation.

The script was fantastically understated and at times powerful (especially the scene at the bus stop when a Muslim student is refused entry)the direction was edgy and realistic and the acting superb, which is always the hardest part concerning Children's BBC shows or any children's shows in general. Rosie Mahoney as chav bully Kelly is the obvious standout in reviews as well as young Sanchez Adams but kudos is due to all the actors, especially the ones who had the straighter, nicer characters to play (the excellent Susie Wokoma and Rhea Karimpanal in both their TV debuts) as most people know its harder to make a "good guy" character interesting than it is to play a bully or villain! Kudos is also due to the adult actors who allowed space for the younger actors to excel but still gave great performances

I strongly hope that this fantastically entertaining and though-provoking show will get repeated again soon on the BBC for a more adult audience & that it is repeated every anniversary of the bombings. Well done CBBC!
