Spectrum chic

'Model Spy' offers a respite from the usual militaristic Spectrum and refashions the show as a spy thriller; and I do like the espionage focus, although the Mysterons' tactics are a big question mark. The Martians have their murderous eyes on a big-time fashion designer, who's doubling as a trafficker of information. Really, you sort of have to feel sorry for the guy. One minute, they're either blowing him up at sea or trying to take him out with a sniper, the next they're chucking him out of a moving car when Spectrum gets too close. He loses his boat and then eats a gourmet meal of asphalt. I dunno what was up with Captain Black's plan this week. First he wants the guy dead, then taken alive, then dead.

But hey, the good guys win and the whole thing is foiled. That's something. And I lie the emphasis on undercover work.
