This patriotic concert, featuring the cute puppet Elmo of Sesame Street, is performed on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. It's free and open to the public with no tickets required, and families from the surrounding areas (Virginia, Maryland and Washington) attend. Due to extensive security issues related to public events on the Mall, all performers are required to go through multiple security checkpoints. Additional security measures are also in place to safeguard both performers and dignitaries attending the event. Credentials (badges) are required for all cast and crew, and no one is admitted without them.
