When Shawn visits Chief Vick in the maternity ward, he tells her that she needs to take some time off from work and says, "Come back in January." This episode of "Psych" was the last episode to air during the summer of the first season; the next new episode was aired, in fact, the next January.
Many of the character names are taken from the "Batman" comic book series: Dent (Harvey Dent, a.k.a Two-Face), Talia (Talia al-Ghul), Leslie (Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Batman's personal physician), Malone (Matches Malone, a mob boss once impersonated by Batman), and Breyfogle (Norm Breyfogle, an artist who has worked on several "Batman" projects).
The "myth" of the burial of ET video games by Atari, referenced when talking about having to bury all the unsold action action figures, was actually proven to be true. In 2014 Fuel Industries, Microsoft and others excavated the burial site as part of a documentary called Atari: Game Over (2014). On April 26th, 2014, 1300 different games, not just ET, and some hardware were unearthed from the site.
At the 32 minute mark, the strange background sound is the sound the Whale Probe in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home makes. Star Trek IV was mentioned briefly in a previous conversation between George Takei and Shawn.
The "lame-o who's dating Kate Moss" mentioned by Shawn is British musician Pete Doherty, who dated supermodel Kate Moss from 2005 to 2007 and has indeed been accused of trashing multiple hotel rooms.
