Storyline

After one of the Ice Truck Killer victims is found alive, that of security guard Tony Tucci, the rest of the squad begins to make headway. Debra locks horns with Sgt. Doakes who disapproves of her gentile and somewhat naive methods for questioning the traumatized Tucci whereas Debra objects to Doakes cynical and hard-nosed investigation. After learning from Rita about a human trafficker smuggling Cubian immigrants into the country, Dexter decides to stalk the most obvious suspect, auto yard owner Jorge Castillo (aka: The Coyote). But Dexter learns he may be in over his head when he discovers that Castillo's wife is also involved in the illegal activities. Also, Dexter finally learns about Angel's marital problems, while Dexter also recalls more tutoring from his stepfather, Harry, about courting a girl during Dexter's junior high school prom. Trivia

Looking at Tucci's blood on the gurney, Masuka suggests that they photograph it. In response, Dexter jokingly calls him Jackson Pollock. Jackson Pollock was an American abstract expressionist artist who used drips and dashes to paint his canvases - and a site where a bloody murder has been committed will also feature drips and dashes, as Dexter knows. Another Great, Chilling Episode!
26 December 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The fifth episode of Dexter continues the thrilling story of the Ice Truck Killer and the hunt to catch him. As the season progresses, the story gets a little darker and darker. I like how they incorporated even flashbacks of Dexter's childhood here and we get to see what his ideas of love is past and present. I loved how one of the major themes here is love and how Dexter tries to find love to seem normal.

This episode, "Love American Style" is about how Rita's friend fiancée goes missing and Dexter inquires about him and finds out that there is this guy named Jorge Castillo who murders Cuban immigrants if they don't pay him. Meanwhile, Debra gets new leads on the Ice Truck Killer after talking to the victim to have survived this killer's brutality.

Overall, this is a really good episode and is really tense but very engaging. Even though these episodes are nearly an hour long, we don't want them to end. I must say Dexter is a really interesting guy and I liked the way how he went about his victims especially in this episode. I rate this episode 9/10.
