He comes out from behind the curtain with his signature greasy hair, effeminate strut, and ever-present cigarette... Mr. Wannabe-Movie Star, Mr. Wannabe-Director, Mr. Wannabe-Singer, Mr. Wannabe-Bigshot himself, Jerry Lewis!
After an entire day of smoking, cracking wise, and just plain boring the hell out of the viewer at home, Lewis' BIG MOMENT arrived at the end of each telethon, at which time his energy would be conveniently spent, so much so, that he must un-do his tie, un-button his collar, and stammer through yet another pathetic rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' accompanied by his patented "CRY" where he breaks down and sobs incoherently while he slobbers all over himself, then gets assisted by two stage-hands who practically have to carry OUR HERO off the set because he has so selflessly over-exerted himself once again in trying to raise money for "my kids".
A monumental exercise in self-aggrandizement.
