Chris Pratt's Cowboy Ninja Viking Movie Gets Director Michelle MacLaren

Universal Pictures is finally moving forward with its long-awaited comic book adaptation Cowboy Ninja Viking, landing director Michelle MacLaren. While this will not be the filmmaker's feature film debut, it will be only her second film after the 2006 indie thriller Population 436, which starred Jeremy Sisto and Fred Durst. After spending the past decade on the small screen, with two Emmy wins to her credit, the filmmaker finally returns to the big screen with Cowboy Ninja Viking.

We first reported on this project back in November 2014, when Chris Pratt scored the lead role, just months after his blockbuster turn as Star-Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor confirmed his starring role in this comic book adaptation a few days later, but there has been little to no movement on the project since then. This new report reveals that Michelle MacLaren beat out two other candidates for this coveted gig,

Game of Thrones’ Hannah Waddingham cast as mad Kryptonian scientist Jax-Ur in Krypton

The Superman prequel series Krypton has just gained an additional cast member. Hannah Waddingham, who played Septa Unella (otherwise known as the Shame Nun) in Game of Thrones, has been cast as Jax-Ur, one of Krypton’s most prominent yet mad scientists.

Jax-Ur was one of Krypton’s most renowned scientists. In the comics, Jax-Ur experimented with a nuclear-level weapon to use against Krypton’s government, but it failed and resulted in the destruction of Wegthor, one of Krypton’s moons. For this, he was tried, convicted and sentenced to the Phantom Zone for eternity.

In a change from the comics, Jax-Ur will be a woman instead of a man and is determined to bring radical change to Krypton as leader of the underground terrorist organization, Black Zero.

Krypton takes place 100 years before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, following the exploits of his grandfather Seg-El, who is trying

David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns tease Green Lantern Corps and Omega Men for Krypton

Earlier this week Syfy unveiled the first trailer for Krypton, DC’s upcoming Superman prequel series, which takes place on Kal-El’s home planet, albeit two generations prior to its destruction.

As we saw in the trailer, the series also features the character of Adam Strange, and according to creator David S. Goyer and DC’s Geoff Johns, the show won’t be restricted solely to Superman characters, and could eventually feature appearances from the likes of the Green Lantern Corps and Omega Men.

“The deal with the show is it’s kind of this gateway into the DC science fiction universe. Because also the Phantom Zone figures into this show, it means we can delve into other times and planets eventually. Even the inclusion of Adam Strange, that should tip you off that it’s not just going to be on Krypton,” said Goyer at the Television Critics Association press tour,

Last year it was announced that writer-director Drew Goddard is set to team up with Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Bridges for Bad Times at the El Royale, and now we have word of two more additions to the cast.

According to CinemaBlend, Hemsworth revealed during an interview to promote his new movie that both Russell Crowe (The Nice Guys) and Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) are set to appear in the film, which marks Goddard’s second directorial effort after The Cabin in the Woods.

Details on Bad Times at the El Royale are being kept under wraps, but it has been described as a “60s noir thriller” and is said to revolve around a rundown hotel in California’s Lake Tahoe region.

In addition to The Cabin in the Woods, Goddard’s screenwriting credits include Cloverfield, World War Z and The Martian, the latter of which saw him nominated for an Academy Award.

The DC Series Krypton Gets a Premiere Date and New Synopsis That Reveals a Time Travel Plot Device

Just last week we were treated to a new promo spot for DC's upcoming SyFy series Krypton. I'm actually kind of excited about this series because it deals with Kal-El's family history on the planet Krypton. This is an aspect of the Superman mythology that we've never really seen played with before.

Today we've learned from KryptonSite that the series will premiere in March of 2018 and they also revealed a new synopsis that has been released, and what's interesting about it is that it hints at a time travel plot device:

"Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he’s under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos.

Syfy Narrows Krypton Premiere Window To March 2018 As New Synopsis Emerges

It’s been a long time coming, but Syfy has finally narrowed Krypton‘s premiere window to March of 2018.

At least, that’s according to a report unearthed by KryptonSite (with a tip of the hat to ComicBook.com). Sadly, there’s no mention of a concrete premiere date just yet, but we do have a new and indeed extended synopsis for you to peruse, which tees up a superheroic family drama anchored by Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, Kal-El’s grandfather.

If you’ve been keeping tracking of Krypton‘s prolonged development cycle, you’ll know that the freshman drama has been angled as a prequel series, one that will seemingly “branch time and space.” There’s also a new interpretation of Brainiac to look forward to, considering Blake Ritson has been cast as the “parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence.”

Furthermore, there’s going to be an element
