Goal Dreams is a feature length documentary about personal and national identity as seen through a football team like no other. Comprised of multiple nationalities, speaking different languages and having no home field, the Palestinian National Football team and its players must overcome obstacles of physical, emotional, cultural and geographic nature just to exist. The film chronicles the lives of four Palestinian players hailing from different parts of the world during the team's preparation for their most important World Cup 2006 qualification match. Written by Jeffrey Saunders
Goal Dreams is a compelling story of the building of the Palestinian National soccer team, but an even better human drama. The film puts a face on the Palestinian people from Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the diaspora, from Lebanon, Egypt, Europe, the US, and Latin America. Unlike the Palestinian people most frequently portrayed in the Western media, these soccer players peacefully face many obstacles in their quest for recognition. The filmmakers have done an excellent job counting down the thirty days to a crucial World Cup qualifying match against Kazakhstan, blended with the players' personal stories that help weave the story of the Palestinian people.
