Did Aquaman Save superman in Man of Steel? Aquaman's Look Possibly Revealed

20 September 2014 2:52 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

The worst secret in Hollywood is that Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian) will play Aquaman in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." We recently heard director Zack Snyder defend the superhero, stating that he has the power to take down Superman, and now we have a few more details about what to expect. "He's going to look like a surfer essentially with tribal tattoos," said SchmoesKnow. The site went on to say that Aquaman already made his presence felt in "Man of Steel." "You remember that scene in 'Man of Steel' when after [Superman] saves the men on the oil rig and collapses into the water, he wakes up and sees whales above him? Apparently, Aquaman sent the whales to save [him]." »

Keanu Reeves Takes Revenge For His Dog In John Wick Trailer

12 September 2014 9:08 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

A few things that I have learned from action movies in recent years: don’t take Liam Neeson’s daughter, don’t pick on Jason Statham’s kids, and, apparently, don’t kill Keanu Reeves’ dog. That last discovery comes to us courtesy of the trailer for John Wick, an action movie coming out at the end of October that has received next to no publicity until right now.

John Wick stars Reeves as the titular character, a retired hitman who is pursued by an old friend contracted by a crime boss to kill him. This apparently involves killing off Wick’s dog, the last gift his wife gave to him. Predictably, Wick is not pleased about the loss of the puppy (it’s a cute dog) and sets out to take everyone down with as many guns and one-liners as possible.

Watching the trailer for this film is perplexing. »

Art: An Alternate Drax From Marvel's "Guardians"

2 September 2014 3:17 PM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

At one time "Game of Thrones" and "Conan the Barbarian" actor Jason Momoa was slated to play Drax the Destroyer in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," a role that ultimately went to Dave Bautista who surprised everyone and stole the movie for some.

Momoa opted out of the role back in February 2013, a month later Bautista came onboard. So, at a point in late 2012/early 2013 when pre-production was partly underway, it was expected Momoa was going to play the role. At the time some very early concept art was being created and Momoa's likeness was being used for the Drax sketches.

Today, Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park has released a shot of his work on designing Momoa as Drax, a Drax that sports a very different look to the one Bautista ultimately had in the final film.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange film may not be an origin story

17 August 2014 6:06 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

According to Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci, who recently appeared on the “Meet the Movie Press” podcast, Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange film will not be an origin story. Instead the film is supposedly “not going to be twenty-minutes of [Stephen Strange] being a doctor,” and will jump right into the character being the fully-formed Sorcerer Supreme.

Faraci states that at one point, the film was a traditional superhero origin story, but that’s all changed now that Prometheus scribe Jon Spaihts is on board to rewrite the script previously penned by Sahara and Conan the Barbarian writer Joshua Oppenheimer.

“So, for Doctor Strange they’ve had a script in-house forever. It is a pretty standard origin story for Doctor Strange. It’s got Baron Mordo as the bad guy. That’s all gone. Marvel’s new thing is no more origin stories. So, Doctor Strange movie no longer has an origin. »

Two Separate Aquaman Scripts in the Works

13 August 2014 3:36 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

After Warner Bros releases "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," the studio will continue releasing superhero films at a greater rate. One of the movies on the schedule is "Aquaman." Now comes word that Warners hired Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300) to each write their own script for the film. Studios have done this before with a goal of either getting a good script from one of the writers or at least have an option of combining the best ideas into one script. This gives studios an opportunity to set a release date and then give themselves the best chance to have a script ready for production. We still don't know when "Aquaman" will be released or when filming will begin. While a director or cast has yet to be announced, it's widely believed that Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian) will play the superhero, which will likely first »

Update – Jason Momoa confirmed as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

12 August 2014 11:06 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Update: Turns out that Cbr was citing an article Variety posted back in June. So, still no confirmation on this one. Sorry for getting your hopes up / disappointing you (delete as appropriate). Original post follows…

Despite spending much of 2014 denying his casting, it has now been confirmed by Variety (via ComicBookResources) that Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian) will appear as Aquaman in 2016′s DC superhero ensemble Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Momoa’s Aquaman joins an ever-increasing roster of Justice Leaguers in the Zack Snyder-directed follow-up to last year’s Man of Steel, which also includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. And of course the news follows Zack Snyder’s recent call in to a Detroit radio station, where he leapt to the defence of Aquaman after the character was mocked on air. »

Ladies and gentlemen, we have your Aquaman!

It was confirmed today that Jason Momoa, who was long rumoured to be the lead candidate in the running for the role, has officially signed on as the superhero in Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Momoa is the latest addition to the cast which includes Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader, Henry Cavill who reprises his Man of Steel role as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.  Momoa’s casting announcement comes weeks after Snyder and cast appeared an Comic-Con.  We don’t have any clue as to what Arthur Curry and his alter-ego Aquaman will look like in the film, but we expect a teaser image to be released the way we’ve gotten looks at both Batman and Wonder Woman’s costumes.

George Miller on why Mel Gibson was replaced for Mad Max: Fury Road

11 August 2014 10:44 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

After what seems like an eternity in development, we’re now less than a year away from the arrival of the fourth instalment in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic action series Mad Max, with Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) taking over from Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Considering Gibson’s troubles over the past few years, it comes as little surprise that the series has found itself with a new leading man, however according to Miller – who directed Mel in the first three movies – the decision to bring in another actor was purely down to Gibson’s age.

“I have a great affection for Mel. I was really heartbroken to see him go into [the scandals],” said Miller, who initially planned to stick with Gibson when he started devoping Fury Road over a decade ago. “But it’s a new time. I hope Mel gets to act »

Batman v Superman Director Zack Snyder Defends Aquaman's Powers

9 August 2014 3:40 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

While it has yet to be officially confirmed by Warner Bros, it seems that Aquaman will be appearing in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." It's also strongly believed that Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian) will play him. Just recently the rumor became more solid when director Zack Snyder called into a radio show to defend Aquaman from the many jokes that the hosts where making about the character. "You guys were disparaging Aquaman," said Snyder. "I don't want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that, but Aquaman has some cool abilities. People are like, 'Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Because that seems like what he does. Or fish?' The cool thing with Aquaman is he has his trident. You have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact. He's super strong because he can exist at these super deep depths. »

Zack Snyder Felt Compelled to Defend Aquaman on Detroit Radio

8 August 2014 12:32 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

We've heard that "Game of Thrones" and Conan the Barbarian star Jason Momoa will be playing Aquaman in the forthcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but due to the shroud of secrecy surrounding the film, that has yet to be officially confirmed. However, CBS Detroit (via SlashFilm) reported that for some reason, director Zack Snyder felt some sort of inherent need to call in to a Detroit radio station to defend the honor of the underwater superhero from DC Comics. This isn't a prank call as it has been confirmed the director really called in to this radio station, and he had a juicy defense of Aquaman. You can listen to the segment right here, but this is what Snyder had to say: "You guys were disparaging, a little bit, Aquaman…I don’t want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that but Aquaman has some cool abilities. »

They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken.
