Wet Foot/Dry Foot (2006)

The title refers to the deal between the U.S. and Cuba. In this film two Cubians think they've reached American shores but they're actually on a deserted island. The two men then notice a man out in the ocean dying so they must choose between staying safely on land or going out to help and possibly be sent back to Cuba. This is somewhat interesting but it never really goes anywhere. There's a nice twist at the end but more interesting aspects could have been tackled.

I'm not sure where you can find this short but it has played on Showtime OnDemand.
