Storyline

Crashing inside a newly formed planet, the Doctor and others find it inhabited by a slave labor mining society, where rocks are harvested for their radioactive energy and human life has little value. With a population controlled by deliberate cave-ins, poison gas, and periodic sacrifices to an Oracle, the miners, called Trogs, are also descendants from Minyos, and who desperately desire freedom. Trivia

All four episodes of the serial ran short of their allotted running time, forcing the use of extended and repeated shots for padding. This episode in particular was so much in need of padding that the reprise was much longer than usual. See more »

Sadly a visit to the Post Office is more interesting

The Ship is getting buried deeper and deeper, but with ingenuity they manage to escape. They pick up the signal from the P7E, a new planet. On the planet, primitives mine in the rocks, while the overlords watch them, and beat them when they stop working. The Doctor, Leela and the Minyans land on the planet and begin investigating. They encounter escaped worker Idas. Idas explains certain things that go on on the planet.

It's quite an ambitious story, I'll give it that. Some of the special effects work quite well, the guards lasers look fairly effective, the CSO works convincingly in some places, but at times it looks simply awful.

The opener is rather interesting, lots of story. Part 2 is extremely dull, it's 20 minutes of walking around, and gas. That's it. 4/10
