When the Doctor, Ray and Burton are riding the motorcycle through the cow pasture, Sylvester McCoy can clearly be seen wearing glasses in two successive shots. The real giveaway is when sunlight bounces off the lenses as they ride left out of the frame! See more »

The Doctor: Oh, Billy, may I borrow your bike?
Billy: All right, Doctor. Try and be careful, though, won't you?
The Doctor: I'll treat it as if it were the TARDIS.

At least there's no Ken Dodd in this one.

Doctor Who: Delta and the Bannermen: Part 2 starts as the alien bounty hunter Keillor (Brian Hibbard) is double crossed by Gavrok (Don Henderson) & is assassinated before he can kill the Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) which gives him the opportunity to warn Delta (Belinda Mayne) about the Bannermen & their imminent arrival, unfortunately she's run off with Billy (David Kinder) & her new born green baby. The Doctor rides off with Rachel (Sara Griffiths) in an attempt to find them while Melanie (Bonnie Langford) stays behind to evacuate the camp before the Bannermen arrive & slaughter everyone but will they succeed...

This Doctor Who adventure was episode 10 from season 24, it was Sylvester McCoy's third story in his first season as the Doctor & it originally aired here in the UK during November 1987, directed by Chris Clough this is a camp story but sort of fun at the same time. The basic & somewhat simple script by Malcolm Kohll only runs for three episodes as opposed to the normal four so we're two thirds the way through the story already, Delta and the Bannermen isn't my favourite Who story but it has sort of grown on me. After witnessing the hideous campness & cheesy humour of this & gotten used to it I'm finding it quite fun, it's nothing special but it's passing the time harmlessly enough. The character's aren't great, I'm impressed at how well Billy is taking the news that Delta is an alien Queen & she has given birth to a completely green baby! He really doesn't seem that concerned...

The start of this episode saw a rather ugly green slimy baby hatch out of an egg & it's a really good special effect which looks quite gross but then for some reason it becomes a 'normal' baby just painted green! It's all so silly & camp but to be fair it sort of works. The scene when the Bannermen soldiers get excited & stick their tongues out while making a silly sound is also a moment of comedy that I could have done without.

Delta and the Bannermen: Part 2 (I keep thinking about Bananaman (1983) when I see this title, anyone remember him? You remember how it went, 'This is 29 Acacia Road. And this is Eric, the schoolboy who leads an exciting double life. For when Eric eats a Banana an amazing transformation occurs. Eric is Bananman, ever alert for the call to action!', ah the memories, the memories...) is an OK Doctor Who story, it's not amongst my favourites though & at least they killed Ken Dodd off in Part 1 so he doesn't appear in this one.
