Trivia

For the scene where the missile is hijacked, the production office had been able to secure the loan of a real (but unprimed) Thunderbird 2 SAGW missile from the 36th Heavy Air Defence Regiment, in addition to a number of troops who would play the Master's men (eight marines had also been made available for the Dover Castle sequences). Unfortunately, however, the soldiers were dressed in military raiment rather than convict garb, prompting Terrance Dicks to add a line wherein Captain Yates explained that the criminals had been wearing fake uniforms. The Mind Bending Plot of Evil
25 September 2014 | by (South Wales, UK) – See all my reviews

Review of all 6 episodes:

This story starts really well with an intriguing and gritty opening episode but it fades a bit as it goes along. That is due partly to the fact it is rather padded out to fill the 6 parts. Following on from a tight four-parter it is a pity this one was not similarly pared down. More important though is the fact, as with a few other stories, that in order perhaps to pad things out there is a rather complex and not fully credible plot. The plan hatched by The Master is too convoluted and not entirely sensible. As a result it loses its initial promise of being a really brilliant story and becomes a rather average one.

The story involves The Master having a mind controlling machine which extracts evil from criminals, a prison take-over, a world peace conference and an attempt to steal a powerful missile. It is very enjoyable but if it had been 4 parts with some of the convoluted plan cut out to make it more credible it could have been better.
