Doctor Who: Invasion of the Dinosaurs: Part 3 starts as the Doctor (Jon Pertwee) along with the help of UNIT manages to capture a T-Rex by stunning it in an attempt to try to study it to figure out who or what is behind the mysterious appearing & disappearing dinosaurs, the T-Rex is taken to a warehouse & chained down. The Doctor continues his investigations while the journalist in Sarah Jane (Elisabeth Sladen) can't resist trying to take a photo of the T-Rex, unfortunately for her the stunned T-Rex wakes up & breaks free of the chains & goes on a rampage while she's trapped in the warehouse with it alone...
This Doctor Who adventure was episode 7 from season 11 that aired here in the UK during early 1974, directed by Paddy Russell I think Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a great story that I'm having a good time watching. The script by Malcolm Hulke is moving along nicely & there's still enough going on to retain my interest & want to watch the rest of the episodes, there's also a great scene in this episode where the T-Rex wakes up & Sarah's trapped in the warehouse with it which would have made for a great cliffhanger ending instead of the duller one where Sarah wakes up & is told she is heading to 'New Earth'. I'm up to Part 3 & the time has flown by, each part runs about 25 odd minutes so they don't take that long to watch although by the time you've seen all six parts to this story it'll have run over two hours but if the remaining three are as fun & entertaining as it's been so far then I don't think I'll be complaining.
Again the special effects aren't the best ever to grace our TV screens but I quite liked they're simplicity & they have a certain childish charm to them especially the bright green T-Rex. I like the production design too, the dated 70's look I actually think adds to the story.
Invasion of the Dinosaurs is coming along nicely & I'm enjoying it, like most old Doctor Who this is good fun & well worth a watch.
