Hilarious

7/10

It was none stop fun i couldn't stop laughing, The story line is pointless, but enjoyable i was not disappointed in the movie at all when it was over i could not stop quoting the movie and talking about it.

but keep in mind i am an immature teen so some things that were funny to me were not funny to others (more mature less funny people)

If you like bathroom humor and Jessica alba you are in for a real treat. It has some of the same humor as Austin powers but some seemed a little wittier.

Defiantly go see it if you are a teenage guy or an adult that still hasn't grown up yet!

Kind and funny - a must see!

10/10

If you liked Austin Powers, this movie is a "must see". While it comes with some heavy jokes, it also serves witty humor far from being superficial stupidities to the more experienced Guru-lover. One Example:

B est I nstructions B efore L eaving E arth

;) - however, if you are a bone dry person with a taste for "political correct humor only" - this movie is not made for you. Myers, however, did it again: a very original and funny movie I enjoyed nearly as much as Austin Powers 1-3. Even my girlfriend who wanted to leave after 15 min told me she liked it after 90 min.

This movie taught me not to trust reviews!

7/10

I really enjoyed all of Mike Myers's movies, so I couldn't understand why 'The Love Guru' supposedly was so bad. I really expected a horrible movie because of all the reviews I've read, which were ALL negative. There was not one positive or even a neutral review, they were all very, very brutal and i felt like the reviewers just didn't give the movie a chance... I could kind of understand what the reviewers meant, but i didn't expect it not to be funny so I had to see it for myself.

I was very bored and so I just gave it a shot; didn't expect to watch more than half of it. I wanted to give it a chance but actually had lost all hope. But I watched all of it, and loved all of it. I watched it on my own and really laughed out loud. It was joke after joke and they were all so corny.

What I like of Mike Myers is how he doesn't take himself too serious, I mean he doesn't take himself serious at all!! A lot of people just don't appreciate that kind of humour, but I know a lot do. Maybe the movie was seen by the wrong target audience. This movie really is for people who can enjoy toilet humour, giggles and awkward situations.

If you enjoy this, you should definitely watch this movie or even give it a second chance.

People are overexagerating.... slightly anyway

6/10

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

This film wasn't as terrible as a lot of people are saying. Granted the comedy was simple and plentiful, and yes some things were simply not funny, this film was still... mildly enjoyable. I love Mike Myers, he's a great actor and a great writer but this work is far from his best. With that in mind im still happy to say that this film was "okay" -- No i wasn't falling off my chair with laughter but i didn't once look at my watch and say "when is this over?" -- to me, that's a good thing.

Comedies are designed simply to make you laugh and entertain you, and in enough ways this did both. If you have a silly humour and don't really care to much for plot pace then you will love this.

Give it a chance, wasn't too bad - not brilliant though. 6/10 for silliness if anything. Yes, i enjoy silly.

Its a standard Mike Myers movie!

Author: bigbeataudio from Coffs Harbour

Im really surprised by the insults thrown at this movie, mainly by those I can only assume have never actually seen a Mike Myers movie before! I mean, give me a break, to quote Ripley...did IQs suddenly drop while I was away? have any of these people actually seen an Austin Powers movie, or Waynes world? They are just a bunch of crude jokes, why did any of you go to this movie expecting any different? I went in watching this movie expecting just that, and I laughed. It was great. Is it an Academy Award winning script...no. Is it the greatest comedy ever made...no, is it the worst movie ever made, as many are saying...not by a long shot, I've seen some crap in my time, and this ain't anywhere near any of them. Its a standard Mike Myers movie, no different to any other he has made in the past. Sit back, have some pop corn and let your brain have a sleep (pretend you watching Good Morning America!), its funny and nothing unexpected from this comedian.

noughties classic

9/10

I highly enjoyed watching this film, I'd recommend it to anyone. I don't understand all the other reviews, while Frat Pack/Apatow productions only made me snicker in the past, I'd rate this as pure comedy gold in its genre (and I'm a fan of art-house cinema and British sitcoms). Be aware, you know what you are going to get: below the belt humour from beginning to end - if you're annoyed by Myers pulling faces, a weak plot or a cliché happy ending then don't download or review this. Justin Timberlake's performance was, surprisingly, above average; plus all the Canadian references are a breath of fresh air. I can't think of a single negative comment about this film.

Well it's not a really funny movie, but it made me laugh.

I know that this movie is not the best of Mike Myers could even be one of his worse, but it still made me laugh I mean people must start learning to sit back relax and enjoy the movie. In this movie you could find good things and bad things, bad things like terrible screenplay and bad portrayal of Hindus.. but good things like mild humor.. I give this movie a 5 but I gave an 8 to rise it up a little from all these bad comments LOL, anyway as I said just sit back don't be shallow and enjoy a movie, oh and you better put in mind that this is a comedy movie not a drama so don't expect a lot of emotions and best of acting. The most thing I liked about this movie is the cast Justin Timberlake added a flavor to the movie, sexy Meagan Good and Jessica Alba, Vern Troyer being a coach with the additional Jessica Simpson, Oprah Winfrey, Kanye West and Rob Blake.

Have a nice day ;)

A decent 90 minute diversion

Author: C G from United States

Before seeing this movie I'd read a few scathing reviews. So, I went into this movie expecting the worst. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The film is fair, with several hysterical laugh out loud moments.

I do believe that there are too many emotional threads which may have lead to the generation of so many poor reviews. There are times where the movie struggles to have heart, but fails. Other instances the movie wants to have high action, which is decent. And further times where the film goes straight to potty humor, which is raunchy and pretty good. Some of the characters could have been given more depth. For example, Jessica Alba's character is fairly weak, as is Myer's side kick/assistant. Although entertaining, Myers' character is not very engaging or admirable. The main character's self realization is undercut by the lack of high quality writing coupled with the lack of character depth.

There are some pluses however. Justin Timberlake's character is great. Way over the top! There is some good physical comedy, and the elephant scene is hysterical. The interaction of Stephen Colbert and Jim Gaffigan is excellent (reminded me of the sports commentators from Bedazzled-2000.) I like the fact that they used real NHL teams and such, Rob Blake appeared for his team, and that action looked fairly authentic. I was also surprised that Deepak Chopra himself appeared in the film.

It would seem that the script was one draft shy of finding success. However, having to satisfy the studio, NHL, and Deepak Chopra may have led to the weakness of the script. If you come to this movie with low expectations you will probably enjoy it. However, if you are coming to this movie expecting the next great film from Myers, you will no doubt be sorely disappointed. Take it for what it is worth, a 90 minute diversion from real life, brain candy, and all in fun.

I did not mind it

Honestly I have seen worse. Going into to this movie I was expecting to be having a head line like "Sorry Mike, you stuffed up" or "Bad Movie make me sad, sad" but I was definitely happy with the result the film has come up with.

The film did have some bad jokes and some stupid jokes that would not be acceptable even in a sketch show but their were quite a lot of good jokes in this movie, and if you are able to look over the bad, you will definitely like this film.

Personally, I am very surprised that this movie got only 33%. It was funny and well acted by most and I am glad to say that Jessica Simpson was only in it for 10 seconds or so and the part of the midget (I think that's the correct term) was also moderately small even though his character probably bought down the rating (Mostly Mike's Reaction annoyed me the most).\

Overall, it is a good film to see, it is funny MOST of the time and if you can get over the bad, you will be able to get the good and you will like this movie. Also, if you are going to rate my comment was not useful, don't just do it because you disagree with my opinion, I do not want to be insulted that my comment was not useful because some people disagree, you can do it if you ACTUALLY have a problem with my comment itself. I rate it 58%.

Parody masterpiece

10/10
Author: Ivanna Mikhaylova

Oh, come on, you people! This should have top ratings - it's a parody, not a comedy! Very true to life, too.

It is not supposed to be all soft and fluffy. It's more of a satire, and it's funny, brilliant, and courageous.

Misinterpretation and completely wrong expectations are what keeps the ratings so low.

I, too, wasn't impressed with the trailer of the movie - it seemed extremely shallow and vulgar - well, now I consider it a poor trailer for a good movie, - so I didn't go to the movie theatre to watch it (which I regret a lot now). Seeing all the reviews and ratings didn't help much - they all said it wasn't worth watching. So I didn't.

Only by accident, or by luck, I got to see it, flipping through the channels about half a year ago, - from the middle of the movie, of course. The very next day I bought it on a blu-ray; and now I've watched it about 10 times already (and I rarely watch movies twice), and converted all of my friends to the Love Guru admirers.

Over the time, I hope that it gets its deserved recognition - viewer by viewer. So if you haven't seen it yet, don't be confused by the ratings - watch it, and decide for yourself. And if you like it, please, don't forget to come back here and rate it.
