Strong Story - Luke Goss was excellent

The story was good. The use of flashback scenes in character development really enhanced the characters and their motivation.

The scenes between the uncle and the little boy were disturbing to the core of my soul. My stomach twisted when the little boy said "do you want to see my underwear?" to Luke Goss's character.

The scene between the aunt and the wife/mother was probably the most uncomfortable thing I have ever seen in film.

The movie has some very dramatic and compelling scenes. The beginning was a little slow with all the character back stories. But definitely worth watching.

Good Spiritual-Thriller

This movie is a good spiritual-thriller.

The disturbing content will upset the contemporary-culture's blind-sided view about ritualistic child abuse. Yet, the movie ends with a hopeful perspective.

Although the movie is clear about its presentation of the Christian faith and the hope people have in Jesus Christ, it is still a movie for everyone to watch.

The movie asks people to look beyond their pleasant surroundings and to consider there might be ugly things happening in their own neighborhood.

Very Good Movie

This movie involves a subject matter that is often avoided by the movie industry. This is a great movie where good triumphs over evil. This fast paced movie will keep you at the edge of your seat as you take a roller coaster ride through the "wierdness" of the Occult in a small town setting. A real plus was to find out that this is based on true experiences...which makes it that much more exciting. The only drawback for me was that the movie had a few "miscues" that left you wondering how they tied in. It was great to see Luke Goss back in action since his great performance in "Blade 2" Luke made the main character very believable. The supporting roles were well played and the special effects blended well with the subject matter. All in all it is a worthy effort and a good movie to watch.

Saw the preview. It was weird, but I liked it. It was kind of 1950's. Dead Silence did the same kind of retro feel. I like older films- The Bad Seed.

I particularly liked that the name of God had power (unlike most exorcist scenes). It was 'spooky' in a fun way... not a 'Saw' or "Hills Have Eyes" a bloody gory mess. It is the kind of movie you could watch, jump once in a while, and then not have night terrors about.

It took a couple of minutes to move at first but it ended well.

Luke Goss is awesome. The Auntie was very strange...she played the role well. The father figure was a weak character so I can see why men wouldn't like him. Identifying with him would expose their own vulnerability.

This film is very well done. If you have high standards, it will go perfectly with your expectations. The special effects and overall set design are amazing.

The movie does a great job keeping your interest. It is very well written and cast. You'll find yourself lost in the story - then when it's over, you'll have much to think about.

This movie does a great job bringing to light the very real and disturbing events that do or will happen in communities like the one you live in. No place is safe - now we know - now we can protect our children.

Very entertaining informative movie that calls for action

This movie was enjoyable and definitely brings to light a subject that is too easily ignored for reasons of comfort. I was impressed with the use of special effects, and the surprise twist of character roles. The only drawback was the over-stereotyping of the antagonists. It did however emphasis the movie's message and therefore was an effective vehicle. The actors portrayed there roles with believably, and the story was easy to follow. The flashbacks were well timed and added appropriate information at well placed points in the movie. It provided my family and myself an opportunity to discuss the subject of child abuse and who should be avoided for such reasons. It also provided a forum to discuss religion.

A one of a kind move that blends horror, drama with a positive message

This movie was a one-of-a-kind. Has a blend of horror, drama as well as Christian message. Was a little hard to follow at first but about 1/3 into the film I found my self engaged in the interaction and being quite entertained. Not sure I have seen a film with this mix but it seem to work well. Got to admit it's strange to be laughing at some of the scenes while such a serious strong subject matter is being played out. After seeing Luke Goss in this movie and then "One Night With The King" looks like Something In The Clearing has lined Itself up to be a film that will not only turn heads, but should be around for a long time. I was also impressed with the child actors in this film. Good job Narrow Gate Productions.

This was such a good movie! The editing was phenomenal and the actors were just beautiful! The spiritual scenes were moving, and the demonic were scary! The story line and build up was greatly done. Sonnie Hamner is definitely an amazing director! This movie is for sure ahead of it's time. I would love to see more of this director as she seems to be one of the greatest I have ever seen. This movie needs a reward PRONTO!! The sinful deeds were portrayed in such a way that describes sin perfectly as well as the holy scenes! I love the relationship between Luke Goss and kid and how he gave him the cross, it was so touching!

Something In The Clearing / Chores

Just wow ! This was a great movie with amazing actors and an even better story line. Here we are 17 years later and I'm still watching this movie daily. The quality of the production for the time it came out was excellent quality ! This should have been a movie of the year and I believe it still has the ability to be this. I would love to see some possible Oscar nominations for some of these actors including the World Famous Luke Goss or even the dog "Brady" I believe was its name. Definitely have the dog air bud a run for his money ! Please share this with your friends and loved ones !! Top Film of the century.

A Chilling Eye Opener !!!!

Anyone with Children Must see this Movie " No Question " If this doesn't open your eyes up to the Evil around us Nothing Will!! Do you really know the people around your children ? The Bible is very Clear about protecting our Children and the results of what will happen to those who harm them . Satin is very real and so are the sick creatures that follow him. Evil takes many shapes and personality's, Do not be taken In . Know Exactly where your Children our and Who there with and may God Bless each and everyone of them and keep them safe. I don't scare easy But Something In The Clearing caught me off guard . May God Protect us All .

This film emphasizes the need to protect our children from exploitation.

This important film makes us shockingly aware of what can and does happen to kidnapped and missing children. It brings to light the activities of people involved in the occult and the danger they present especially to children. Instances of this type of satanic child abuse exist and are documented in astonishing numbers throughout the United States and elsewhere. The parents in this film assume they are bringing their son to a safe and wholesome place to live only to discover that people they thought they knew well were manipulative and evil. There is emphasis on the power of prayer and the need for faith in God's protection. The story underscores that It is vitally important to be aware that in many instances of child abuse, the perpetrator is someone known to the family . This reality based film will give you the shivers.

Conitnues to haunt me.

There are very few films that continue to haunt me, this was one. Not at all what I was expecting. I am finally able to sleep with the lights off again last night(it has been 4 weeks!). When I heard it was based on true life events I was terrified to realize that people as demented as this really do exist. The film made me realize that people I deal with daily may have secrets identities darker and more evil than I ever believed could exist. The silver lining of the film was the beautiful Luke Goss. It was a joy to watch him on screen for two hours. I don't know a woman out there who would mind him coming to her rescue. This is a movie that I will always remember and that everyone has got to see...

When you do see it, don't go alone.

Gripping!

This movie starts out a bit slow and before you know it it has you on the edge of your seat! The story is powerful and gripping. Luke Goss is beautiful as always and the characters are well portrayed. This is one of those experiences you get taken away by, whether you want to or not! This is a small independent film with the power and punch of a big budget project. The vision is clear and well portrayed. The soundtrack and music is moving, powerful and mood setting. There is HUGE talent behind this "little" project. Ms. Hamner should be applauded for her work and vision! This is a movie that needs to be seen more than once to truly be appreciated! There are some incredible messages that are not caught the first or even second viewing. Take the time to experience this project for the power player it is! What a great cinematic experience!

Hallelujah !! Amazing Film

I did not know what to think when I first heard about the storyline this movie portrayed. I read the quick summary and quickly knew I'd be a fan of this film. The film immediately grabbed my attention and I was stuck in the seat of my chair for the whole duration. I am a huge fan of the actor, Luke Goss and an even bigger fan of the amazing director Sonnie Hamner ! It is awesome seeing how involved the family of the director was as there was scenes with the world famous "Chuck, Grandma Sue, Sherie and most importantly ... Michael in the baptism scene." This is a film I'll be sharing with others and will be telling others about. It amazes me how this film was released before the birth of Zander which is one of the grandsons of the director. Amazing property this film was shot on and even more amazing story line ! Glory to God.

The Greatest Horror Film Ever!!

My friend recently took me to the house where they had filmed the movie with her family who is close to Sonnie. I saw the film and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was great how they pieced together the whole filmed and it was so much fun to see people I knew inside the movie. Before we started the movie, I was shown around the house and as I was watching the movie, I could recognize the different rooms used for different scenes. I was also shown some of the props they used in the movie. This film was so amazing and Sonnie did a great job. I loved the movie to death and can't wait to see it again! Go Jake, Jordan, Troy and of course Sonnie!! You guys were so awesome!!!

Best Movie Ever!!

I think this movie is really helpful to inform people that this stuff really does happen out there. My close friend directed it and today i took my friend to the house where they filmed it and she saw the movie. It was suspenseful and kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Watching how they cut and added parts to the movie and then seeing it all come together was a great experience and was amazing. Sonnie told me that she wanted to make more movies and I am convincing her to make a sequel but first this movie has to do well in order for her to make another. This is the best movie ever! I love u Sonnie, you did a great job!!!

Oh. My. Goodness. This is truly a classic. I loved every minute. I watch this movie so much! I cant believe the depth of each character. The depth of each scene. The praying scene especially was so moving! It's so relatable, because I pray too!!! God is so prevalent in this film it is outstanding the holiness that shines from this film! And dont get me started on the acting. I especially loved how the film ended! Truly one for the ages. Why doesnt this have every oscar ever??? Why isnt there a million nominees??? This movie is so good it deserves it! I cant believe they got Luke Goss in this film, my favorite actor of all time!a1 amazing movie.
