Jason Blum Is Hopeful The Oscars Will Stop Ignoring Horror

Today, Jason Blum – of Blumhouse Productions – is undoubtedly one of the most successful producers in cinema. His filmography is actually quite eclectic, with him having helped deliver projects across a number of genres – from the drama The Reader, to the comedy Tooth Fairy. His production label has become synonymous with horror movies, though – and that’s all thanks to one film: Paranormal Activity.

Prior to Oren Peli’s CCTV-based ghost story, Blum had enjoyed a somewhat patchier run as producer – but when Paranormal Activity earned $193 million worldwide against a budget of just $15,000, business at Blumhouse Productions kicked into high gear. Specializing in low-budget horror that earn big returns, Blum has since produced horror franchises including Insidious, The Purge, Sinister and Ouija, as well as standalone titles, such as Oculus, Creep, and Get Out.

Having received an Academy Award nomination himself, for producing the 2014 film Whiplash, Jason Blum is currently at

Baywatch Nights: revisiting a truly bizarre TV show

Mark Harrison May 24, 2017

Remember 1995's Baywatch Nights? Mark does. He revisits a whole pile of David Hasselhoff-starring strangeness...

When we look back on Dwayne Johnson's breakthrough to the A-list in about ten years' time (“Did President Johnson get the film roles he deserved?”), we'll have to consider that his status as franchise viagra, as demonstrated in the soon-to-be-released Baywatch, has led him to pick projects that are sort of beneath him.

See related Fargo season 2 episode 10 review: Palindrome Fargo: how to make great TV from a great film

Baywatch is the latest in a line of formerly popular TV shows to get an ironic Starsky & Hutch-style big screen reboot, following the enormous success of the Jump Street movies and the resounding failure of this year's ChiPS: Law & Disorder. With tongue firmly in cheek, Johnson has been promoting the film on his Instagram by referring to his new crew of lifeguards,

Split 2: M. Night Shyamalan’s Sequel To Have ‘More Traditional’ Budget

  • LRM Online
Disclaimer: This post contains spoilers for Split (Seriously, though? What’s the statute of limitations on this one?).

Earlier this year, audiences were blown away by M. Night Shyamalan’s latest offering, Split. In years past, Shyamalan had slowly lost the trust of his millions of fans with films like The Happening and The Last Airbender. Not so long ago, just seeing his name in front of a trailer was enough to elicit groans from audiences. However, with last year’s The Visit, coupled with this year’s Split, Shyamalan’s given us a decent one-two punch that seems to foreshadow a renaissance in his career.

Split was an especially amazing film. Not only was it great on its own, but its ending revealed that it existed in the same universe as Unbreakable, one of Shyamalan’s more beloved early offerings. After nearly two decades of fans wondering if we

Dwayne Johnson Isn’t Your Average Superstar: How The Rock Has Built a Career With Smart Choices

Dwayne Johnson Isn’t Your Average Superstar: How The Rock Has Built a Career With Smart Choices
Like most famous people, Dwayne Johnson’s Wikipedia page includes a nifty sidebar that includes bare bones facts, like birthday and age, with a couple of lines reserved for “occupation.” Johnson’s “occupation” line is almost amusingly slim — it simply reads, “Actor, producer, singer, professional wrestler,” which is an understated way of saying “this guy does a lot.” And it doesn’t even mention his best-selling memoir, or his charity work, and “professional wrestler” hardly indicates the tremendous success he’s had in the ring.

And “actor”? That’s a very concise tribute to his blockbuster career on the big screen, one that’s amounted to dozens of credits and an estimated lifetime box office gross (domestic only!) that totals over $2.7 billion. With Johnson toplining the early summer’s biggest hit so far, the box office-dominating “Fate of the Furious” and a non-stop barrage of other features on the way,

Vin Diesel Comments On The On Set Feud With The Rock In The Fate Of The Furious

  • LRM Online
This is for The Tooth Fairy!

USA Today is reporting that Vin Diesel is commenting about the on set friction he had with Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, on set of the new Fast and Furious movie, The Fate Of The Furious. Last August, The Rock went to Facebook and made comments about an unnamed male co-star on the film.

"Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you're right."

Lrm has spoken of this feud before, even going so far as to speculate that the feud was nothing more than a publicity stunt that would see The Rock and Vin Diesel face off in a match at this year's Wrestlemania. That obviously didn't happen. Rumors have also gone

John Cena behind Bray Wyatt push, Tna legal dispute with Lucha Underground…

In one of the weirder wrestling stories of the year so far – and that’s saying something, as the below ‘I’ve Been Stone Cold Stunnered Support Group’ picture shows – Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson and WWE Studios are making a movie based on the life of current WWE wrestler Paige.

The reason that’s so weird is because seemingly every other week has another story about strained relations between her and her employer.

The film is called Fighting With My Family, and is based on the Channel 4 documentary of the Norfolk-based Knight family, of which Paige is the daughter that found fame. It’s already got a director in The Rock’s Tooth Fairy co-star Stephen Merchant, and has cast Dwayne, Cersei Lannister, Nick Frost and Vince Vaughn. Florence Pugh will be starring as Paige.

Manhunter, 1986.

Directed by Michael Mann.

Starring William Petersen, Brian Cox and Tom Noonan.

Synopsis:

Based on the novel Red Dragon, FBI profiler Will Graham reluctantly comes out of retirement to lead the hunt for an elusive serial killer dubbed “The Tooth Fairy”. To aid him in his efforts, Graham seeks out the advice of Dr Hannibal Lecktor, a cannibalistic serial killer whose apprehension left Graham mentally and physically scarred. Feed the Beast Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Fire

  • TVfanatic
Like a tasting menu of a dozen courses consisting solely of Big Macs, the first, and likely only, season of Feed the Beast has come to an end, leaving us feeling overstuffed and yet still not very satisfied.

On Feed the Beast Season 1 Episode 10, titled "Fire," everyone on the show finally realizes that they all know each other.

Because while the Hell's Kitchen of Marvel's Netflix shows is way larger (and more dangerous) than its real life counterpart, the Bronx of Feed the Beast is apparently home to only about a dozen people who all know each other but don't know they know each other. (Confused yet?)

Watch Feed the Beast Season 1 Episode 10 Online

First, Marisa tells Dion that Detective Giordano, the dirty cop who tried to coerce him into killing the Tooth Fairy, is her father. Or should I say, was, as the Tooth Fairy got to him first.
