A bed ridden Nellie lives together with her troubled son Harold, the pair have grown to despise one another, following something he did in his youth. She longs for the return of her favourite son Stanley, and out of the blue, he returns.
I didn't think this was anywhere near as good as series opener Home Cooking, this one feels very melodramatic, somewhat muddled and cheaply made in comparison, where that was sharp and intriguing, this one is clunky as fuzzy.
Interesting to see how it unfolds, especially Nellie's twisted relationship with her sons, her unnatural connection to Harold in particular.
It's of course significant because it features Patricia Phoenix in her final acting role, known to millions of course as Corrie's Elsie Tanner, she plays the part very well, she's a fallen star, who's grotesque and bitter. Tom Bell and Tom Georgeson are both excellent, three strong performances.
I don't think I'd rush to sit through this one again in a hurry.
