Danny Trejo calls the shots in Poolboy.

Kevin Sorbo (Bitch Slap) and Danny Trejo (Predators) star in the 2011 violence-infused gross-out comedy movie Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury.

It’s a nutty one: Vietnam veteran and former pool cleaner Sal Bando (Sorbo) returns home to So-Cal to find that white suburbia has been tarnished with Mexican laborers who have taken over all the local pool cleaning business. Even worse, his wife is having an affair with a rival Mexican pool cleaner (Bryan Callen). And if that isn’t bad enough, Bando’s wife and son are then killed by bad-ass Mexican boss Caesar (Trejo). Infuriated, Bando sets off on a brutal mission to reclaim his rightful vocation and enact his revenge on the man who destroyed his family.

The first film directed by Garrett Brawith, who’s better known as an actor

'Apollo 18' and 'Final Destination 5' Lead the New Titles This Week On DVD and Blu-ray

Final Destination 5 I enjoyed this movie for the short time I was in the theater, but I had to look back at my review for any kind of reminder as to how things played out, which is to say it's decent but forgettable. I did enjoy the ending and there were a few fun kills in 3D, which I imagine will look even more silly at home, but then again I hope you aren't considering buying this one as a rental will more than suffice.

Apollo 18 I don't believe a single good thing was said about this film, which bounced all around the release calendar before finally settling on a release date earlier this September. Three months later and here it is and I'm sure you could find far better ways to spend your Christmas money.

The Pool Boys

I admit, I love mindless comedies that don’t take themselves seriously, that don’t try be smarter than the intended audience or filled with so many twists. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Old School, The Hangover, all these laugh-out loud films I’ll take any day over those so-called “smart comedies” where the writers try way too hard to show how intellectual and witty their film is. The Pool Boys, a mindless comedy where the main characters try and raise some extra cash by starting their own Beverly Hills escort service sounds exactly like my kind film. Laughs, tits and ass, what more could you want in a comedy? Unfortunately, The Pool Boys tries too hard to be funny. In fact, one has to wonder at times, “Where are the laughs?”

Tim DeKay to star in 'White Collar'

Tim DeKay to star in 'White Collar'
Tim DeKay has been tapped to star opposite Matthew Bomer in USA Network's 90-minute pilot "White Collar." The casting of the two leads lifts the cast-contingency on the project.

In other pilot castings, Gina Torres, Brett Davern, Scott Cohen, Sammi Hanratty and Jen Drohan have joined Lifetime's drama "The Amazing Mrs. Novak."

Bronwen Hughes (USA's "Burn Notice") is set to direct "Collar," which is from Fox TV Studios and creator/exec producer Jeff Eastin. The project centers on a brilliant con artist (Bomer) who against his will partners with the head of the FBI's white-collar crime unit (DeKay).

USA executive vp original programming Jackie de Crinis praised the two stars.

"They have incredible range in terms of comedy and drama, which is something we always look for in actors," she said.

DeKay most recently was a series regular on the HBO series "Tell Me You Love Me" and "Carnivale."

Ware's 'Wake Up' stirs Fox Atomic

Ware's 'Wake Up' stirs Fox Atomic
Scribe Justin Ware has dialed into a project with Fox Atomic, selling the label an original pitch titled Wake Up Call. Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar are on board to produce.

The project -- a high-concept comedy along the lines of Wedding Crashers -- becomes the fifth that Ware has penned that is either in development or production, including Adrenaline, Amazing Girls, Handymen and the recently wrapped American Summer.

Recent projects for Gough and Millar include penning the screenplay for "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," set for release in the summer.

Ware is represented by the Gersh Agency. Gough and Millar are repped by WMA.
