Hallmark Channel goes HD just in the nick of time

16 December 2009 2:24 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The Hallmark Channel will launch the network in High Definition on Feb. 1, 2010. I know what you're thinking: Golden Girls is going to look awesome! But after examining the channel's upcoming original film debuts, I realize this move was, in fact, necessary. Not so much for Feb. 13's Elevator Girl starring Mean Girls' Lacey Chabert and Final Destination 3's Ryan Merriman ("a stuck elevator brings a free-spirited woman and an uptight lawyer together"), but for March 6's Uncorked, a romantic comedy starring Dexter's Julie Benz and Men in Trees' Scott Elrod (pictured, right), and March 20's Healing »

Kristin Chenoweth Has "12 Men of Christmas" In New Lifetime Movie

3 December 2009 12:41 PM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

She is one lucky woman.

It would be so easy to hate Kristin Chenoweth. She's got a voice that makes angels weep, an Emmy, gets to strut around the set of Glee, and now she's telling hot mountain men to strip and getting her feet rubbed by Cougar Town's Josh Hopkins. It's a good thing she's irresistibly adorable.

In her new Lifetime movie, 12 Men of Christmas, premiering Saturday, she plays a big city publicist who loses her job, and ends up in Montana running their tourism department. When she doesn’t get results from the natural beauty, she decides to go for the natural studliness of the men, and make a naked calendar. She calls it Calendar Girls meets The Full Monty. I call it the plotline that would have made me watch Men In Trees.

Since it is Christmas, Lifetime decided AfterElton.com readers had been good and »

Mercy's James Tupper Previews Full-On "Violence"

Last week's Mercy ended with Mike figuring out his wife Veronica had an affair in Iraq. So, how is Mike going to fare this week now that he's digested the news of her infidelity?

NBC picks up Community, Mercy and Parks and Recreation

"It comes to violence [between Mike and Sands]," James Tupper, who plays Dr. Sands on the medical drama, tells TVGuide.com. "Very full-on, direct, action-movie violence. I felt like an action hero for the day of shooting!"

Watch free, full episodes of Mercy

Though it's hard to say why Sands has had such a hard time letting Veronica go despite her ambivalence, Tupper feels a lot of it has to do with them sharing something in Iraq. "I think being close to her is necessary for his recovery from the experience," says Tupper.

Anne Heche: No Wedding to Baby's "Incredible" Dad

Exclusive: Anne Heche Talks to Movieline About the Letterman Fiasco and Hung

While popcult junkies may say her legacy is defined by abduction theories and well-publicized relationships of varied success, Anne Heche is also -- and this deserves emphasis -- hilarious. The 40-year-old actress has graduated from bookending the world's most famous lesbian couple (at the time) to being an eminently watchable loose cannon and television star. Since the demise of her series Men in Trees in May 2008, she and boyfriend James Tupper, who co-starred on Trees with her, have won roles on two different series: HBO's Hung for Heche, and NBC's Mercy for Tupper. Movieline caught up with Heche to discuss their newly separated careers and whether she regrets calling her ex Coley Lafoon "a lazy ass" during that very special sit-down with Letterman. »

Heche Defends TV Attack On Ex-husband

18 September 2009 6:51 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Anne Heche has no regrets about publicly humiliating her ex-husband Coley Laffoon by branding him a "lazy-a**" during a controversial U.S. TV interview - insisting her cutting comments were meant to be "funny".

Laffoon filed for divorce in February 2007 after five years of marriage, but the pair's messy divorce was only finalised last March.

Heche made it obvious their split has been anything but amicable during an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman last month - complaining about the $3,700 (£2,470) she pays Laffoon per month in child support for their seven-year-old son Homer.

In a sarcastic rant she explained how Laffoon makes a living, saying: "Can you say 'lazy a**' on TV?... He goes out to the mailbox and he opens up the little mailbox door and goes, 'Oh! I got a cheque from Anne! Oh! I got a cheque from Anne! Yay!'"

Laffoon, a 35-year-old real-estate agent, hit back at his ex, insisting he was "disturbed" by the cutting remarks.

But Heche insists she would not change anything about her TV appearance.

She tells Usmagazine.com, "You know, you go on Letterman to have fun and to be funny. Hopefully it was funny!"

Heche is currently dating former Men in Trees co-star James Tupper, with whom she has a six-month-old son, Atlas. »

Heche To See Parenting Specialist

Anne Heche and her ex-husband Coley Laffoon are set to undergo sessions with a specialist to improve their parenting skills.

The Six Days Seven Nights actress made it clear the couple's split has been anything but amicable when she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last month and complained about the child support she gives Laffoon for their son Homer, seven.

But the pair will have to put their differences aside after agreeing to seek counselling with a "parenting plan coordinator", reports TMZ.com.

Heche and Laffoon have signed a deal that forces them to meet with the court-ordered chaperone to learn how to make decisions together and resolve their disputes.

Heche is currently dating her former Men In Trees co-star James Tupper, the father of her second son, six-month-old Atlas. »

Teen cult film 'Heathers' becoming a Fox TV show

29 August 2009 11:57 AM, PDT | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw. The 1989 Christian Slater/Winona Ryder/Shannen Doherty masterpiece of teen black comedy, murder, cliques, and morbidity Heathers is becoming a Fox TV series.

TV writer Mark Rizzo and producer Jenny Bicks (Sex in the City, Men in Trees) are in charge of the adaptation, which worries me, because of Sex in the City and Men in Trees being awful shows in which women are vapid innocent idiots and men are idealized as saviors of the middle-aged single gal. Anyway, this is about teenagers. So thankfully Diablo Cody is not involved...

Veronica Sawyer (played in the movie by Winona Ryder), J.D. (Christian Slater) and the "Heathers" themselves will all stay as characters, but what other horrible changes will be made?

The idea for a Heathers revival came from inside UTA, where reps for Rizzo and Bicks decided the title was ready to be »

"Heathers" Coming to TV? But…..Why??

27 August 2009 1:09 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

According to my impressive research skills, Heathers (starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater) came out in 1989, which would mean that I was about 10 years old at the time.  I really don't think it was appropriate for a 10 year old, but I distinctly remember watching and loving this movie.

For those of you who don't remember, Heatherswas the story Veronica Sawyer (Ryder) who was friends with a group of b*tchy highschool girls, most of whom were named Heather.  Enter the tortured rebel, J.D. (played to perfection by Slater and his greasy hair).  He and Veronica embark on a series of adventures wherein they "accidentally" start killing the Heathers and make it look like a suicide.  Then suicide becomes cool and all the kids want to start doing it.  It's basically a look at cliques  in highschool, teenage angst and serial killing.

Sounds pretty whack, right?  It was, but in an awesome, »

Heche's Ex Fights Back Against 'Lazy-a**' Comments

Anne Heche's ex husband Coley Laffoon is fuming after the actress branded him a "lazy-a**" during a U.S. TV interview.

Laffoon, a 35-year-old real-estate agent, isn't amused by his ex's cutting comments.

Heche Mocks 'Lazy' Ex On Letterman

27 August 2009 1:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Anne Heche took aim at her ex-husband during an interview with U.S. talkshow legend David Letterman - branding Coley Laffoon a "lazy a**".

Heche and Laffoon went through a messy two year divorce that was only finalised in March.

The pair share a son, six-year-old Homer, and Heche pays Laffoon child support for him.

And the star made it obvious their split has been anything but amicable while chatting on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday.

When quizzed by Letterman about what she thought of her former husband, Heche joked, "Can you say 'lazy a**' on TV?"

And she didn't stop there, explaining to the amused audience about how Laffoon makes a living: "He goes out to the mailbox and he opens up the little mailbox door and goes, 'Oh! I got a cheque from Anne! Oh! I got a cheque from Anne! Yay!'"

The star then mocked her ex for his dreams of becoming a soccer coach - and for repeatedly inviting her to watch his games.

She added, "I think he wants to coach soccer right about now. It's funny because you can't quite let go of the ex.

"He wants me to come and watch him run around in his little white shorts playing soccer. Honestly, I don't want to come to rehearsal and watch you run around in your tight shorts like trying to pretend you know how to play soccer. I divorced you! I don't want to hang around with you Thursdays and Saturdays and maybe on Sunday."

Heche is currently dating her former Men In Trees co-star James Tupper - with whom she recently had her second son, Atlas. »
