Trivia

This series was originally expected to debut during fall 2006 but was later bumped up to January 2007 to replace ER (1994) during its hiatus. During fall 2006, ER (1994) had such great ratings that NBC decided to scrap the hiatus, and The Black Donnellys (2007) was pushed back to March 2007. However, another NBC newcomer, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006), turned out to be bit of a disappointment, and The Black Donnellys (2007) was bumped up to fill its time slot in February 2007. Quotes

[first lines]
Detective at prison: So, where are the bodies?
Joey Ice Cream: Ah, man. These guys are my friends.
Detective at prison: Here's the deal, Joey. You tell us where the bodies are, how they got there, and you stay in solitary, nice and safe. You lie, you go to general population where more people than I can count want to see you dead.
Joey Ice Cream: [looking nervous]
Detective Sunny: [throws a book down on the table harshly] Where are the bodies?

The show "The Departed" wishes it was
28 February 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Going just by the pilot - excellent! I thought the story'd be off to a bit of a slow, boring start, but it took off like a flare, from the first few shots, never flagging, never letting up. The grittiness of the look, the timing, the pace, the story line, the dialogue -- terrific, just what you'd expect from people who made "Crash." They didn't disappoint. The acting is also very good, except Keith Nobbs, who plays Joey Ice Cream: entirely too much of a clichéd motor-mouthed overacting little weasel. If he's going to continue providing the narration, it can be a detriment to the overall quality, as it was in the pilot, hence I gave it only 9 stars out of 10.
